Hi all, Today Dona Ricardo and I went for a good old fashioned Sunday afternoon drive for Mother's Day. Went through a few localities we hadn't been to before, including Strath Creek. On the way through we spied a couple of Viscounts. The first was a mid-60's van with the same shaped flashes as Chubi's van on the DHL Viscount thread, but this one probably had bunk beds at the back: Just round the corner was a mid-50's Viscount in the scrub: Sorry, no serial numbers - the vans were on private property and I wasn't! Both of them looked like they may be home-sweet-home for someone. Don Ricardo

Hi all I am a new member just looking thru the past forums trying to work out what vintage vicount van we have just purchased . From the outside it is similar to the 50's type in the bush at Strath Creek 12th May in Don,s forum. The signage possibly hand painted on the passengers side reads Viscount Royal left to the door, plus some small signage bottom left of door reading Adelaide. The color inside re draws and doors is not pink like others I have seen but different colors, Above the table there is a gas lamp ,if anyone's interested in photos I will try and do that in the next couple of days.

We would looove to see some photo's. You need either a photobucket or imageshack or similar account. Make your photo's smaller b4 uploading to photobucket.
when you have achieved this ;D come back for further instruction ;D

Unmasked, your van looks very similar to my viscount, which I think is a 1960. The round vent holes in the cupboard are identical and the van shape the same. Yours could be earlier than mine though as there are no side colours on yours. I have a Viscount manual that I will try to post as that shows the 1960 look. Where is your van? Rex

Hi Rex, I actually don,t know if it was made in Adelaide which is where they originated from, I just wonder if Viscount named one of their vans Royal Adelaide . The outside was painted over by the previous owner except for the roof , but there is no signs of color coming through. I stated earlier that the number on the A frame was 603 but it's actually 63? The third no, is poss, a 0 . And thanks the manual could be very helpful.Regards Tom

Hi Don, I'm a newcomer to this site. Earlier tonight I left a few questions to people about a Viscount I recently purchased with the two smaller side windows as is seen in one of the photos you have uploaded. The seller and rego papers state 1969 but under the table appears to be 28/10/66 faintly written in pencil. My number is E1419, do you think it might be a 66'ish and previously had the bunk beds on that side of the van? Regards, Bob

Strath creek was very close to bush fires in 2009. A lot of vans were donated to brushfire victims for temp housing.
