Morning all, Dona Ricardo rang me very excitedly earlier this week to tell me that she'd spotted a little bondwood caravan. I've awarded her the V V Spotter of the Week, and told her that Reddo will send her his latest Reddotel invention as a prize! Anyway, turns out the van is for sale. It's 9 or 10 feet in length, bondwood walls with a layer of tin or aluminium (should have tried the magnet test!), and single skin, ie unlined. There's not much inside except the table at the front and the base for a bed across the rear. I'm guessing by various features that it is a 40's or early 50's van. And no, it's not a Don (but almost the right shape). Front and offside: Rear view: Front and nearside: As can be seen most of the windows are louvres, but there are also a couple of neat little porthole windows etched with an image of a bird: Slotted wheels: ...and an intriguing old style coupling: If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll give you the phone number for the seller and the location (Eastern suburbs of Melbourne). There's a bit of work to be done on it - no lights or electrics, fit out the inside, etc, but it is a nice size and an old school, classic V V design. Don Ricardo
