Hello all I'm thinking that getting someone to sandblast Mabel's chassis sounds a whole lot more fun than crawling around underneath wire brush in hand as I did with the Caravelle. Not to mention likely to result in a better job. The chassis and underside of the floor boards are painted with an old pinkish paint which on the boards looks perfect but on the chassis is flaking badly, and the metal is rusting, as you'd expect after 70ish years. When I look up 'sandblasting' in the local directory there's actually no mention of 'sand', rather glass bead, grit, water, garnet and soda blasting . Some offer a mobile service which might be handy as Mabel is driveable but not legally and only if it doesn't rain. Can someone please advise what I'm looking for and whether the blasting is best done with wheels, stabilisers, jockey wheel etc left in place or taken off. Also, if I get her blasted and sprayed with some sort of rust deterring undercoat, will it be OK to then leave the topcoat until later or should it all be done at once?
