Details (and more - forgot the screen door:P) as follows:
Hi All
Selling my 1959 Caravan. She is original, registered, and in excellent condition.
INTERIOR:
Amazing (in my opinion and that of many others). Has that evocative bondwood timber smell that reminds of summer holidays.
Beautiful light fittings both 12Volt (round) and 240v (long). Original vinyl innerspring seats front and back to make for 2 double beds - perfect condition. Also has the original canvas bed that slings above back bed. Classic array of 50's cupboards- Hinges dipped and reinstalled. Venetian blinds are 5 years old - form fitted. Curtains 1 year old. Vintage fire extinguisher on wall. Original 2 burner, creme enamel gas stove and griller; original silver gas bottle attaches to front - tested and tagged for another 5 years. Lead lined icebox. Original paint in very good condition in most places. While I can certify there are no leaks there is some minor evidence of leaks in the past before windows seals replaced and around skywindow (that has been sealed off)
Also include's 50's radio and red 50's melamine crockery set to match.
EXTERIOR:
Original pressed aluminium. See structural notes for detail underneath - excellent condition. Some minor scratches and dents as per photos. Well sealed and no leaks. Window glass has been replaced with modern shatterproof glass and lightly tinted. All lights work but missing external light.
ANNEX:
Full canvas annex in excellent condition. Original Wooden poles and timber bases.
STRUCTURALLY:
Bearings done beginning 2012. New light truck tyres. Surface rust removed and rust treated. Seen by NSW blue slip mechanic. No braking system required - only 600kg
REGISTRATION:
Victoria - August 2013 - cost about $50 / year
She is a perfect caravan for taking to show standard or enjoying now.
Please contact me - Josh Barnes - on joshbarnes@mac.com or 0406088233. I don't have voicemail, so please send me a text.
The caravan is currently located in Stanmore, Sydney ready for sale (usually in my shed in Blue Mountains) so I will arrange set inspection times when I am not in the mountains.
I am the 3rd owner and she has been very well maintained. I am seeking a good home for him/her. I am not terribly interested in talking to hagglers or people 'thinking' about owning a caravan. Requires a serious vintage caravan enthusiast to take on this rare piece of australian caravan history.
