Bought a tractor today off of a lovely old 86 yr old fellow on acres near Canberra. I was a bit distracted, as he had a one owner 1963 14 ft? florida(by millard) aluminium van(steel frame) on blocks in the same shed. Faded...yes, dusty ....yes but otherwise in very good all round nick and chocablock full of period bits and and pieces, (jug, crockery, cutlery etc) Some floor tiles starting to lift. Interior cupboards gloss paint as shiny as(under the dust). Original mattresses and seat cushions. Always shedded when not in use. Fairly faded on outside with a bit of trim come loose on bottom edging. Original vacuum brakes and no rust that I could see(canberra cars/vans... rust no issue)........ AND...... Charlie is keen to sell. This would be a great buy. Donr will post photos soon as convenient on my behalf. Thanks again DONR ;D PM if interested for contact details....they are still out there!! Jenno

Moved this to a new thread:
Hi I am a newbie to this sight and have recently brought this van ( pics below ) which I am picking up next month. I am chasing an original period annex for it. I am not sure of the clip arrangement on the van ( photo shows clips down the side and what looks like a rope track??? Would love to pick someone's brain out there and hopefully track down an annex and any other useful info on the van Love the forum and all the stories I have read so far ( I'm hooked !!!) Cheers Andrew (Tassie)

Gday Andrew i can't remember what it had (most likely marconi track I would have thought) but will try to pop in on Charlie over the next few days to check it out for you. Have you contacted him recently as he has had a recently diagnosed heath issue that will soon have him in hospital for a few weeks? Suggest you touch base with him just in case it clashes with your proposed trip time jenno

Hi Jenno I really appreciate that ! I am planning to be there on the 2nd of May round 4pm Thursday which will give me all day Frid to change tyres and pack ( or replace ) wheel bearings etc then back on the road Sat at latest as back to Tassie on Sat night on the boat! Funnily enough I just opened the mail tonight and in it was a written receipt from Charlie and was planning to contact him so will try to catch him over Easter. If you are that way could you cast your eye over her for me to see if there is anything that could put a spanner in the works re towing I would really appreciate that ! Maybe some more pics??? I am really excited to get a hold of it and really appreciate you helping me to get acquainted with the old girl!! I love the forum and can't stop reading so many great stories. It's fantastic !! Take care Andrew

Met up with Andrew and his good mate Ben at Charlies this arvo and collected the florida. Good ol Charlie(86yrs old) had it out of the shed (no mean feat believe me) and ready for us to collect with new tyres and all the extras, handbasin and stand and whatnot ready to go!! ;D. The boys have camped in my paddock (in Boblors spot) tonight, then off to the pub for tea. With a few bits of minor maintenance first thing tomorrow they will be off to the Larrikans Zips, Rips and Trips Moyhu branch for some minor adjustments to the annex and a few safeways grange overnight before heading back for tassie. Wait till you see this van inside without the dust. SPECTACULAR and the cupboards chock full of period crockery and cutlery etc. Glad to meet up with Andrew at last (and Ben who by the way bought that 55 Viscount for sale in in mexico last week) Have a safe trip boys.....when are we going to do a Tassie tour VVers I reckon that'd be tops jenno

Larry (Doc) the Larkin looked after us well but the Delorean was out of action as the flux capacitor was away getting a new gasket fitted Think a VV tour to Tassie should be on the cards!! ;D Cheers Andrew ;D ;D

Well here are some pics for anyone interested! This is Jeff, Charlie (owner who brought it new in 63.He would have been 38 ) and myself A car wash after sitting in the shed for nearly 40 years! Inside is as good as it gets ! Charlie used to beeswax the cupboard doors oh that's Ben a mate from Tassie (free plug for VCM:( ) Little mixup with the permit nothing we can't fix ah Larry ;D Speaking of Larry .....here is a rare glimpse of him in his natural habitat ;D Thanks mate for the wonderful hospitality hope to return the favour in Tassie soon ;D On the boat back to Tassie finally after a few dramas ( can laugh about it now ;D) That's another early viscount we picked up in Melb!

Well with 3 caravans to restore , a garage to build , four girls to look after ( five including the wifee!) something has to give so the Millard will be finding a new home further down south ( Hobart) It's a great original van and will be sad to see it go as it was the catalyst that got me started but the new owners will throw a lot of love into her and will be using it to tour around this wonderful state of ours! Congrats to new owners and I am sure we will see their progress on the forum soon Cheers Andrew

Hi Akeepsake, I've moved the thread to the Members' Photo Album section. I presume that is what you were intending? Loved the pics of the final tea party and sleepover. Hopefully the new owners will get a lot out of fun out of vintage vanning...and join the forum. Don Ricardo
