Hi Oldiron Love the van. We dont see enough of these old darlins here in australia. Probably because the average bloke owned a Holden or pommy car back in the days when these things where available. Even the old cussos and tank fairlanes would have struggled with a 30 footer hanging off its back. The side windows look similar to the old 'merican clipper buses. I love the shape and the stripe / flash on the side of it. Providing the chassis and bodywork is sound you can always do a refit of the interior either to your own design or use whats left in there of the old cupboards etc as templates to restore it to its original specs.... your van .. your choice. Your gunna need something good and solid with plenty of grunt to tow it with . . Where do you live?? .Can ya please Get us some pix of the inside . what wheels and brake set up is on it?? looks like a big vacumn booster on the drawbar.?? At least 16" wheels and tyres. Have a good look around it amongst the coats of paint and crud there may be a manufacturers name there that you have overlooked. Looks like something may have been stuck above the back window??? attack this spot with some warm soapy water and see what shows up If ya dont find anything there check inside the cupboards and draws inside for a clue on date of build. Once again congrats on a great find. I am guessing very late 50's early 60's. Might not be made in America but has a strong yankee influence. There was plenty of coachbuilders back around that era that could have knocked it up over here in OZ. Cheers Mate Reddo

HI, that is the best looking thing i've seen in living memory. (except for an Airstream.).
Any full sized american V8 should pull it. We will look daily to see if you have posted any new photos.

Well I was driving to Beaudesert recently (late morning, having just got out of bed) in Kermit the holden, and like all good vintage caravanners had my eyes on what was on the sides of the road rather than what was on the road ahead. Guess what I saw. so I did a U turn and went back – to see this…. and here is a close-up pic.. I thought I had previously seen it on the forum – and ….yes ...well here it is – apparently the guy has it for sale and almost sold ...for $5,000. earlee ;D ;D

Onya earlee Good spotting. $5000 for a 3 wheeler I hope it ends up in the hands of someone that can do it justice. It would be a big restoration. You would have to think twice about taking it back to polished alloy. Would mean buying a 25 litre drum of polish everytime you wanted to give her a shine Also noticed what looks like fire or heat effected section above outside light fitting. maybe a short in the light of possibly she has a bit of a "flame out " inside causing the scorch mark above the light. a few other observations: Would hate to be paying the frieght costs to get it to W.A or South OZ Would not fit down the ramp and around the right hander into coledale van park Definitely looks like something that may have been used by the shows/ circus mob from years gone by. A great piece of Australias touring heritage. wwwwwwaaaaiiiiiittt a minute is made of Tin..... Kindly disregard all of the above comments Reddo Prez RSPBCA

yeh - thanks mark - Kermit is a great kingswood - my daughters luv it - me too! ;D 1 owner, 114km, 202 column auto with factory air. ;D On another note, I got the gas guzzler award last weekend in a club economy run in my V8 EK, only getting 20.5 litres over 66km. shock horror but who cares about greenhouse gases - I do my bit by restoring old caravans anyway. ;D ;D earlee.
