The annual Pine Rivers 'ROCK N RODZ' is on Saturday 25th May 2013. 2011 and 2012 were great events and we had a large turn out in 2012 for this great event here with a large car show, and caravans of course plus some fantastic Rock and Roll music from Saturday morning till Saturday night. As per 2012 I can organise overnight camping at the Lawnton Show grounds after the event as those who did this partied on and some made a trip to Old Petrie Town Country markets on the Sunday morning. The main change this time (requested by many members) is we'll enter earlier, possibly 10am but i'd still like to meet up the road and enter as a group as we make a grand entrance to the delight of the crowds and organisers. More details later but mark the callendar for this great event. Rollydog

Confirmed on Saturday that the Lawnton show grounds will be happy to have the vans there again after the RockNRodz event. Now I just have to sort a towbar for the new tow car as I am going to sell the Hunter wagon. Rollydog

Here is the link to the Rock n Rodz web site with all details of the event. Halfway down the page is the link to on line registration for the 'Car show and shine'. ## The main stipulation here is you must have an older car as the tow car. Remember the $10 entry fee is a donation to the Rotary Club of Albany Creek and for that you get a great day of old cars and rock and roll music. Remember to pm me your details so that i can allocate an area for our group. Rollydog www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/rodz/

UPDATE FROM THE ORGANISERS
They will allow Vintage Caravans towed by modern cars if I keep them together or if we unhook the cars and put them in an area just over from the vans. You can book in on the day but phone or text me or put a comment here.
Remember it is this Saturday with entry from 9am. Classic cars with great Rock N Roll music equals a fantastic day out !

Thanks Lisa. It will be good to see you down there.
RE CONVOY:- I think it may be easier this year for everyone to just arrive at their own convenience rather than meet at the train station.
BUT as you drive in the park and and turn left through the gate beep your horn a few times so that I notice you coming in and will guide you to the parking for VV members. Remember as you come in to mention to the parking attendants you are with the VV group .
Remember you can book on the day if you decide at the last minute.
At this stage weather prediction is good for Saturday.

Thanks to those that attended. We only had a small number but the quality of the vans was A+. Good to see a new vehicle, the red FE ute with the Kennedy and Graham and Marg travelled from the sunshine coast. The Arrow Royal of Sharon and Steve looks great matched to the Zephr and Stan and Deb's Holden & van got plenty of attention. There were a few other vans including Ray with the blue Ford Torino as tow car. It was great to see some other members who couldn't bring their vans drop in for a chat. My appologies to those who wanted to put up their awning but I was pushed by the parking guys to close up the area a bit more and so space between vans was then limited . This was due to Rotary changing the way they stacked the cars this year so our side filled more quickly BUT I have an idea for next year that i will cover in a review to the council as the parking guys from Rotary suggested they may send us to the far corner then and we don't want that. Please give me your thoughts on this. Firstly we arrive by 9am to ensure we get into the area when more space is available for parking and turning. Because members like to sit outside their vans and talk to people that are looking through them I thought we run the vans one facing forward and the other facing back in the row so that the doors of two vans face each other and one of those vans for the first four rows can put up their awning so that two couples can share the shade near their vans and there is enough room for the public to mingle about and inspect the vans. This is a great event for us and one at which we should also support Vintage Caravan Magazine as their annual birthday event and i beleive I can get this idea across to the organisers so that we stay in the prime area. I was that busy with the Limo stand and other things that I didn't even know there was a trophy for best Vintage Caravan but I can inform the judges next year not to take into account awnings/ annexes etc. To me the event is much more than judging and trophies. It is a once a year social meeting where our members get a chance to be amongst 350 great classic cars and enjoy the rock n roll music while sharing the company of our fellow Vintage caravan members. Hi Rollydog
My humblest apologies for not being able to attend this year. We were booked in, but "life" got in the way of us having a good time with great people. It looks like a terrific lineup of vans on display.
If I can add my 2 cents worth to the space debate - I would push earnestly for the space to display our vans properly with ALL of our annexes up. It is the way we use them in any camp situation and our annexes are an essential part of staying in a caravan - modern or vintage!
The organisers should be understanding of this as the vans will be displayed in a much more realistic situation and so adding to the enjoyment for the public.
Just my thoughts anyway...
Kind regards Mark & Glenda

Hi King Woodies. Couldn't agree more. Our vans are becoming increasingly more popular with the general public, and at some shows are considered the 'highlight' by many. For organisers to allow space for v vans to only be displayed 'cheek and jowl' does themselves, the vans and Joe public a great disservice. I'm sure the future will see more consideration being given to the display space allocated to our vans,by the more astute show organisers. Having said that.....not all V Vanners are up for displaying or 'showing' their vans at all......and that's cool too! Sutcac aka Cactus

I totally agree but the issues here are . Other non VV members bring their vans and wanted to put up annexes as well. . Rotary members were running the parking and were pushing me for room as they had , according to the local paper today a record 450+ cars this year. It is something to think of for next year as it is a great event to attend but I want to keep the vans in the same area rather than go out to the far side because:- . Keeps the vans amongst the cars and the wandering public. . More convenient for our members. . Better security for the little accessories we put out as there are more people milling around. It all came together on Saturday and everyone had a great time so now we relax until next year's event and go from there.
