Hi everyone - I am wondering if anyone has modified their vintage tail light frame/reflectors to contain LED components. I dislike the old clip in globes but obviously don't want to lose the original fittings. Anyone tried... or even thought about it? How did it go?
I am going to post a similar question in the caravan and camper forum, so apologies if you see this twice.
cheers, Bill

Bill, I've converted all the lights on my 'van, both inside and out to LEDs. This included bayonet type globes and festoon fittings on the clearance lights. A tip, I bought them on line from Taiwan and Singapore for a fraction of the cost of sourcing them locally, just be sure of the wattage etc.

If you are using Festoon type bulbs as you are aware it is a very ordinary method of holding a lamp. With the long life of the LED festoon bulbs I suggest you solder them to the brass tags this will achieve two things will prevent the globes rotating as the LEDs face one direction only soldering will also ensure a good electrical connection.
