I to have been hit by one of these web sites, mine was called "github" they only took 7 us dollars but hey thats a start, do nothing and they will come back and take more I'm told, my bank also lodged it as theft and I had it back in a couple of weeks, worth taking a good look at your statements guys.

I assume these thefts are from bank debit cards, that is, bank cards with a visa symbol that are not actual credit cards. I had a friend lose her entire savings from one of these cards.... she got it back but was without cash for two weeks.

Yeah, unfortunately the debit facility allows thieves to skim your account using just the card number. I won't use them for that reason. They are handy when travelling overseas but I just get one of those foreign currency cards from the bank instead. If you want to stop the problem just have a seperate credit card and get rid of the debit card. They can't skim the "old" bank cards that don't have a credit symbol on them. Banks prefer you to have a debit, so that is what they push, but the "normal" cards are still avaliable and will remain so.

My visa card details were hacked about 6 months ago. It has a $500 limit as I use it only for internet purchases. The CBA were excellent & refunded all illegal charges...and on a Sunday.
