This is the very first posting for our new forum. It has been a long time in the making , but we agree it has been worth the wait. Now it is up to you to fill all the spaces. We are sure there are many stories and pictures that you all want to share and we only hope that now all of us " enthusiasts" can enjoy our common interests. The Vintage Caravan Team ;D

Congratulations Mark, at last we have a forum where Australian vintage caravan enthusiasts can talk about, and help to foster, our hobby. I will try and post a few photos of a caravan I have for sale and also post photos of the van I have used to travel around a large hunk of NSW. Long live the forum. Cobber.

Great site! congratulations.
After spending a few months looking for a caravan, when the fibreglass camper finally decided to die, I fell in love with an oldie and just had to buy it.
I estimate it is 1958 - 1963 model Zestline Carapark and have searcherd the internet worldwide and can't find anything like it. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about them - will post photos later.
Cheers Jerri

Hi there,
congratulations on getting this forum going.....should be lots of fun...
we hope to keep you amused with our project to build a 50's style teardrop caravan on a 60's caravan chassis bought for $100
our idea is to build it in time to tow it across the Nullarbor from Perth to Jindabyne with our FC Sedan to the 10th FE/FC Nationals at Easter 2005....
oops, we better get our "fingers out"....!!
...pics soon

gday everyone, this is going to be a really good site. should i apologize now for asking lots of dumb questions as i know less about caravans than i do about computers or FC holdens. Q1. how can we tell where all the members are from ? Q2 can sombody tell me how to reverse a caravan(i can reverse a bendy bus but not a 6x4 trailer !) Q3 does Emu own a caravan Q4 what are the details of the next run ? surferboy

Hi Surferboy,
to find out were we all live you have to login and on the top of the messageboard page, under the "Vintage Caravans" logo you will find a few options - just click on "Members" and you can go to all our profiles.
Those Q are not so dumb, while I am not so bad camping and restoring cars I am a bit braindead in the caravan dept.
Cheers Jerri and Jenny

Hey Mark and Ditzy We've come a long way in the past 16 months.( 25/7/04 to 25/10/2005)
I realise that the site existed for a while before you got proboards up and running. It is interesting to go back over some of the early posts and see that most of those that where there at the start are still active on this site today.
We all miss Trev and i hope that carrots is still involved in the vintage vanning with you west siders.
The wealth of knowledge and the commaraderie shared by those who have contributed to the list and attend weekends away is gold....... precious
We all have different fields of expertise in which we consider ourselves "well versed' and it is great to be able to turn to the list and either search on past postings to find the answer to something that is puzzling me about a particular van problem, or ask a question and get a prompt reply. I consider myself a jack of all trades and a master of non but i feel if someone needs help i will jump in with my two bobs worth. I apologise if i have upset anyone with my twisted humour ,sometimes course language and succint vernacular ( to quote Belinda).
Keep it coming i say.
As cobber stated in the 3rd post " long live the forum"
reddo - from the far side.

The "Welcome Message" in the link below is the very first post/thread made on the forum by ditzygypsy on the 26th July 2004 at 12:56am. (Bit of a late night start). It was moved to Vintage Vanners Hall of Fame and now sits in "Pride of Place" at the top of the Vintage Vanners Hall of Fame section. Thank you Jenni and Mark for the inspiration that began this forum way back then. What a difference a day makes (or even 10 years). The Moderating Team
