;D Hi John and Beth , I am a fairly new member also and have been made to feel very welcome, it's like having a whole new world of mates :owithout actually having met any of them as yet ,other than the members of my other club the Chrysler Restorers car club of SA ,also an excellent club with quite a few V V in the livery. You will get a lot of friendly assistance here when ever you need it , hope to get to Mildura next year to meet a lot of you. I am in MIldura every month for work and it's a great place to visit. Cheers Wayne And Marianne And HER-ME our little hive, A 10' 67 Quest to be towed by a 75 Centura, both are under resto's.

Gday Wayne and Marianne,Gday Dave, Thanks for the welcome, the van itself needs very little work, maybe a wash the Valiant car has been under resto for the last 5 years anbd is nearly complete. The van has not been named yet.A job for Beth(she who yells loudest).
I will try to post photos of both in the next few days. Nice to hear you get up to Mildura once a month Wayne.
Cheers for now-John and Beth

Gday All, Here is a quick pic of the recently purchased Valiant van with the VG in the background. I will post more pics in the next day or so,the van on the outside is very clean with only the rear window needing replacement.Does anyone know the right sort of tail-lights for these vans I think it is a 1967 model, there is a tag in the bottom of the fridge that states 1967. The van tows well and is a pleasure behind the car.It has Holden 13 inch wheels, might have to change those to suit Valiant car. Cheers John and Beth(she who yells loudest)

Hi John, can I give you some homework to do?? Would you please answer the following questions so we can get some more information for our Valiant history section? 1. What is the chassis number welded on the front drawbar? It is likely to be a five digit number, possibly starting 32xxx. 2. What is the length of the van cabin? This is tricky, because I don't know how Valiant measured their vans for advertising purposes. When they advertised a Valiant as a 12 footer, for example, was it 12ft from the front of the "nose roll" above the front window, to the bum curve at the back?...or was it from the bump under the front window to the back bum curve?? Maybe if you measure from the bump under the front window to the back curve, that will give us some idea. 3. Can you post some photos if possible showing the Valiant logo/transfer/decal above the front and/or back windows (assuming it's still there)? Extra marks will be given for neatness Would you also have a look at the van in Reply #2 in the link Valiant History thread and compare it with yours? Same painted flashes on the side (although different colour). This van was listed on ebay as a 1962 van, but I think it is much later than that, and more in line with what you say about your van...maybe 1966 or 1967. If you can get some more photos of your van up here on the forum, I can include your van in the Valiant history section. I think the information we have there at the moment is full of errors, and the more Valiants we come across, the more accurate we can make it. Finally, the tail lights...Viscount (who made Valiants) was a big user of the Hella lights in the mid 1960s onwards... ...usually fitted horizontally, but can also be vertical. Plenty of them still around on old permanent vans in caravan parks. [they don't need them ] The early versions have chromed metal surrounds...later changed to chromed plastic. Nice little van you've got there John ;D ;D ps. Homework to be handed in by Friday, otherwise you'll have to stay back after Class cheers, Al.

Gday Franklin 1, Home work has been completed and is handed in before time. Got to be worth extra brownie points. 1. Chassis number is C1111 2. The length of the van(the Bug,as named by "she who yells loudest" is 10 foot 9inches measured at the waist line. 3. The Valiant logo is different to the other Valiant logos posted here 4. Tail-lights are the Hella units as displayed in your post and look to be unmolested. 5. Side flashes are original colour but not quite as dark as photo suggests. 6.Fridge is definitly stamped 1967 but my camera has not the capability to get in that close,it is also marked or branded Polar. Finally a couple of interior shots Hope this helps Cheers John and Beth(she who yells loudest)

Thank you John...I can see a definite "Tries very hard" on your next report card!! Your information succeeds in confusing me even more about the Valiants. So many different logos...as well as different chassis numbering systems. No wonder we can't get an accurate history of this brand of van! I'll put your photos and information into the Valiant History thread, if that's ok with you. One day we'll get lucky and find the missing bits of info that make sense of what happened with the Valiants over the years. Thanks again for your help. cheers, Al.
