Hi ladies and gents, I work in TV production and have been assigned the task of finding an older style caravan for a Music Video for a country artist. We would ideally like to shoot the clip next week (25th or 26th Sep 2012) in Sydney.
The caravan scenes arent very complicated and would amount to using the caravan for no more than 3-4 hours. The singer will literally be sitting at the dining table or on the bed singing the song. We need a few outside shots and that would be it.
The music video will be shown on CMC (foxtel) and on the new Ch 10 country music show.
If youre interested in helping us out we'd love to hear from you!
Many thanks!
Robb

Well!................... this was an interesting gig to help pass the time of day. The Rusty Gate Film crew arrived at our place and set up camp after deciding that poor old “Driftwood” was to be the star. A bit later Bob Corbett, this years winner of the “Toyota Star Maker” contest arrived to take part in the video clip Rusty Gate were doing for him........ OK! OK!..... so Bob Corbett is the star The way things are done I think we heard Bob's song about 15 times while film was being shot . They even found a staring roll for this forums first original “Free to a good home” caravan Which might....or might not give a clue as to what an exciting video clip it's going to be You have to remember...... I only do these publicity things to help promote the Vintage Caravan hobby , thanks for the opportunity Robb Cobber.

Just one word comes to mind... "HOLLYWOOD".. No... Not the poor bugger that got in as "Toyota Star maker"....Aka "Bob Corbett".. with his rusty gate. He dont hold a candle to the other Bob ... that is more famous for his caravan rentals to the stars. T'is enough ta make an honest vintage vanner puke Arold

G'day cobber, Congratulations on another mighty effort to support the "Yarts", as Les Patterson would say. I'm curious to know if you get a cameo appearance in these videos you support? Maybe you serving high tea dressed as Jeeves the butler, or even a couple of seconds of you streaking across the background wearing just your favourite footy scarf? I think it would be fun to play "Where's cobber the wally?" when we view all the commercial events your vans have been involved with. Well done, cobber. cheers, Al.

Hey cobber!
I think I speak for the whole forum when I say that we really appreciate the sacrifices you make on behalf of the vintage caravan movement. I'm sure they won't go unrewarded ;D ;D ;D

G'day fellas, F/F..look at the 4th photo down.......new glazing rubbers and windows, front and back, spent a fortune on it, and we don't like 'em much , they look too new, don't look vintage at all . “And where's my cut” you say, mate when this video hits the airwaves you will be able to say..... “I know the bloke wot owns that caravan” What's that you say ?...you deserve more.....I'll buy you a drink half way across the Nullarbor . Hey arold. I got a surprise to find out Bob Corbett lives at Newcastle, you should know him...... he's probably heard about you Al and Ray..... you blokes understand the sacrifices...the time.... the travelling I do to help promote the VC cause.......never get asked to do a cameo spot, it hurts , but I struggle on ....... somebody has to do it . Cobber.

G'day Geoff 'n Jude...Heather and Ron, G 'n J....pay the bills that would be good aye. This was a budget job because they actually came to our place and entertained us for most of the day....so instead of paying them.... I only charged enough for a couple of beers Heather... Even Bob Corbett admits he's not real country...but it's the nature of the country industry in Oz... they accept fringe dwellers into the community ...he is pretty talented, been around for a while, plays a few instruments and is a nice bloke Ron ... Where you been ...I know, but have you run out of jobs around the house ? time to start restoration on one of those over-rated-Dons aye? The boys only hired Driftwood but they got highly excited when they spotted "free to a good home" in the paddock ......sure was a better proposition than blowing up poor old Driftwood. Cobber

G'day Cobber, Great to see Driftwood adding to her(?) media credits once more. I'm thinking someone should be proposing her for the Australia Day honours this year. I think an AC would be appropriate - Caravan of the Order of Australia... However, having viewed the video and referring particularly to the last section where a caravan was shown in an extremely sorry nd abused state, I regret to have to tell you that you yourself are going to have to present yourself to the vintagecaravans.com Disciplinary Committee because you have contravened Rule 10384 Section 25 Subsection 9.1 (a) (i) which expressly forbids members of the forum from participating in, or allowing their caravans to participate in caravan destruction derbies. What is particularly disappointing is that you yourself wrote that particular rule. You will need legal representation for the tribunal, but I strongly suggest that you do not use the firm of Reddo, Reddo & Reddo for this purpose due to the fact that their record on this matter is somewhat suspect... Don Ricardo ;D ;D ;D PS Great video. Congratulations!

Hi Cobber I really enjoyed the video featuring Driftwood - a very catch tune for sure! But I have my concerns - have you really thought through chasing fame, living vicariously through your van? Oh sure, at first it's just a fresh set of hubcaps to use for show...but where does it end? Suddenly it wants new curtains, worries its cushions are too flat, or too fluffy, the "stars make its butt look big"... The keychains, teacups, earrings, and videos go to her head - fame is a monster, my friend! And the little van you knew is no more. She cracks the big time, Hollywood calls, and then you've lost her for good. Then it's bad paint jobs, philips head screws, and electric brakes. Oh the humanity! Don R.... You presume to assume I will defend the charges brought under rule 10384 S25 etc etc. I plead guilty, and throw myself at the mercy of the tribunal... Who in previous cases involving the firm Reddo Reddo & Reddo have been very understanding of the circumstances and lenient in the extreme.............................I thought Seeshell, Fame is a monster to be sure... and it could send me ga-ga if I'm not careful. I am aware of the dangers but it is a runaway train, each time an agency approaches us begging for the use of a vintage caravan I send them photos of the three vans I have available..... They invariably choose Driftwood. Imagine the demoralising effect this has on the other two, I may have to resort to adorning them with some of the trinkets you mentioned in order for them to gain the attention of the star makers....... Or should I continue to say " What I have is the real thing..... No pink flamingos here mate, take it or leave it " Those words might come back to bite me one day I fear Cobber.

Hi Cobber It is a vicious self-reinforcing circle! The more "Driftwood" is instagrammed, Pintrest-ed and made into mugs and earrings for sale across the internet, the more she is reinforced as the norm of what "what a vintage caravan should be". By extension then, she is chosen more often, compounding this effect. I can imagine how damaging this might be to the esteem of the other two..."Dad always liked you better...!" I think Ol' 36 and uh, the other one, whatever it's called, need a publicity campaign...maybe a T-Shirt, some kind of awareness raising event focussing on vintage caravan diversity... Seeshell

Seeshell... the others do get a staring roll very occasionally but one does have to be careful. This mob pushed their luck...... If they had of brought out the pink flamingos I would have pulled the plug...... You bet! I mean..... a bloke must have some principles aye? Cobber
