Nice one humpynvan, mine are stockies but if I ever went down the road of modifying one of them little V6's would be my choice also, they just look as though they belong there.

Mainly did the mod for reliabilty and safety reasons.
With little kids its important to have a reliable cruiser, also aircon was almost a must, and i wanted a car i could just jump in drive anywhere and not have to worry about availabilty of parts.
SO 4 wheel disc brakes, rack n pinion steering it was.
body is original, so is interior as far as was possible, even still running front bench seat.
My interpratation of a good mix between old and new

I do not understand this purple thing, never liked it when it was in fashion in the seventies, still do not understand people liking it.... must be my artistic sensibility... or I am just different... even worse is purple and pink.. cannot understand or like this. Now all tones of blue... yes...

p.s. love the car though, if it was just blue, or green anything but purple... there I go again...

Thats One sweet Humpy. I own a dead stock FJ ute......and i am dead set sh!t scared of dying in it every time i drive it.. No seat belts and tobacco tins for brake drums... beefed up coat hangers for front suspenison.... But hey... its pale blue so if i crash i am gunna die pretty. I have a much travelled/mangled /modified/battered FB panelvan with heaps of mods..and.. feel much safer in that with its retractable belts.. disc brakes.. lowered suspenison than the FJ. The simple answer is.. i tune my head into the 1950s when i hop in the FJ ute , ... ( think melow.. think cruisin... go to my happy slow place ;D) ...fire her up and drive to its braking and handling capabilitys .. no wuckers Colours .....Its like beer.. everyone has thier own preferences. I know exactly where ya coming from with the pleasing the missus bit... Can be the difference between owning and driving a cool car ...... and .. just dreaming about what could have been before ya argued the point and stood your ground over the colour with ... "She who must be obeyed"...and.. controls the finances . Last wordz.. Deep purple waz a cool band ..... Thank god they havent perfected 1970s "Tie dyed "paint for cars .. just t shirts.. Reddo

as one of the SHE who must be obeyed persons, I must heartily agree with their choice, but I do drive a Toyota Echo, it is blue, so I am happy. I drive this car as it dictates, nearly as good as an old carolla... now theres a car you could drive... manual of course.

It's think it's a girl thing to like purple cars I've previous owned a lavender coloured Hyundai Coupe & a Dark Purple Holden HT Monaro 6 cyl. As this thread is about the beloved Holden 48/215 etc, I'll just mention here that while delivering my future tow car (the Holden EJ Ute) to my mechanics this morning on a car trailer (he specailizes in old Holdens only) there was a stock standard green FJ ute being picked up and a stock standard green FX ute being dropped off. I was in Holden Heaven!! I have already bought my seat belts to install in my Ute, I'd feel naked without them after 32 years of wearing them !!
