The only Snowtown I found in google maps was in South Australia, so as this place is in Victoria I have to say, "Sorry it's a No."

i don't think it is western victoria so how about east of melbourne on the coast? maybe it's famous because it is about to fall into the ocean or has been teetering for half a century? or is it the PM's holiday house? or has it a dark secret? or famous for it's fabulous fish pies?
oh, sorry. is that too many wild guesses in one go?

Well franni is closer than shesgotthelook but it's not east of Melbourne, although all I will say at this stage is that it is within 100km of Melbourne CBD, so that rules out a lot of Gippsland too. -maybe it's famous because it is about to fall into the ocean or has been teetering for half a century? NO -is it the PM's holiday house? NO -has it a dark secret? NO -famous for it's fabulous fish pies? NO - although it does have a milk-bar connection. Should be a lot easier now...

So the idea of this thread now is to be as obscure as possible

Anglesea Vic - Its about to fall into the sea?

OK so it's time for some more help. Good guess Gypsy 10 but it's not Anglesea, it is however between Anglesea and Melbourne city. So as to answer the significance, it was used as the location in a famous Australian film a long while ago. I won't say which film just yet though, as that may give it away too much. So we only need the location now. Good luck.

So the idea of this thread now is to be as obscure as possible Didn't think this location was too obscure. Personally I had been looking for this house for many, Many, MANY, (20+) years, and was surprised that it was still there. It was only last month that I finally found it. Still looks very similar to the scene in the movie, except the grass has grown and some blue paint has been added. The milk-bar signs are no longer there of course, as it was never really a milk-bar, a bit of poetic license...

Well I'm not going to name every place between Anglesea and Melbourne city. So I'll say Bells Beach. then no more guesses from me. As for the movie - They’re A Weird Mob?

Hi Gypsy10 you are getting closer, Unfortunately it is not Bells beach as it is on the other side of Geelong.
As for the movie it was first released in 1979 so it's not "They’re A Weird Mob".
Not too far away now...

No idea where it might be but was it used in a scene in Mad Max? It is the flavour of the month with the new release, the original was in 1979.

Gooday Griffin, yes it was used in the original Mad Max, one of the reasons for choosing this one. It was the milk-bar scene where Jessie takes Sprog for an Icecream and is confronted by Toecutter and his gang , but after a good swift kneeing Jessie manages to make a getaway but unfortunately takes Cundalini’s hand with her .
I will give you a clue: Near one of Jetstar's airports.

Woo Hoo pawnee (your turn now), the correct answer is Avalon Beach and the house was used as a milk-bar in the film Mad Max. (Google Maps) This is the location where Jessie goes for an ice cream and she unfortunately meets up with the Toecutter and his gang, she manages to escape but discovers the hand dangling from the car when she stops later. (http://www.madmaxmovies.com/making/madmax/AvalonBeach/index.html)What is interesting is that this was never a real milk bar. “Art director Jon Dowding and his prop department had to make the most of their low budget -- even if that meant stealing just a wee bit. On the DVD commentary, Dowding confesses that he stole most of the props and signage seen outside the milk bar (convenience store) where Jessie goes to get ice cream. He stole everything early in the morning, they shot the scene, and he put everything back where he found it during the night.“ (http://www.toplessrobot.com/2012/04/10_things_you_probably_didnt_know_about_mad_max.php)

The wonder of the movies, can many anything out of nothing and use stolen goods to do it!! Love that scene from Mad Max, I always have a great chuckle, can't help a warped sense of humour.
