Oops, sorry "Where's this" devotees. I dropped the ball. Where's this? The road sign tells you that we're 11 kms from somewhere. See if you can tell us what mountain range is on the horizon and what place we will reach in 11 kms. Don Ricardo

Hi Don,
I think you might be stopped on the Hume Highway (M1) north of Albury and the mountain in the distance is Table Top mountain and it is 11 klms to the Ettamogah Pub.
In the late 1960's I managed to seize a VW Kombi Van whilst driving up to a two-way vhf radio base on the top of that mountain. It was 116 degrees f at the time. After a couple of hours I managed to start the engine again but one cylinder was not working very well. The garage foreman was not impressed upon our return nor for the receipt for engine oil used but in the name of economy only replaced the one damaged cylinder. The van never was the same after that.
Cheers, Ian.

Hi 2up and Jikah, Yes, 2up, you're exactly correct - it's the Grampians 11 kms from Dunkeld. Well done. I thought I might slow people down a bit by asking what town we were heading towards, but not a bit of it. I guess that that area is close to "your patch", so you may know the Hamilton to Dunkeld road quite well? Either that or we inadvertently stopped the van outside your mother's place or somewhere similar? Over to you for the next photo. And Jikah, that was a good guess. I can see why you could have suggested the area around Ettamogah Pub. Great story about the Kombi. That type of heat certainly used to have an impact on the vehicles - and drivers and passengers! - back then. I tell my sons about driving in those days and they don't quite believe me I don't think. These days being in a modern car is probably one of the most comfortable places to be on a day of 45 degrees, and we rarely have to worry about the car giving up on us. Don Ricardo

Hi Don,
To be fair to the Kombi we were going up a rated 4WD "track" which was almost first gear all the way up for about 4 kilometre. Fortunately the Kombi was almost empty at the time.
Cheers, Ian.

Sorry Les, it was old Uncle Google. I found it fairly quickly but waited a few hours to give someone else a go
