G'day Bubbles, The caravan in the pic is a Coventry Knight "48", or maybe it's a "49"? The number refers to the build year, not the length! ;D ;D ;D There are a few photos of them in Andrew Jenkinson's history of UK caravanning Caravans: The Illustrated History - 1919-1959, but there are none shown with the 'tropical roof'...or is it a 'snow shelter'? ;D ;D ;D The Coventry Knight is a pretty imposing van, isn't it. When I look at it though, it reminds me as much of a railway carriage as anything else! Interestingly, one of our forum members - Vantoura - has just purchased a Silver Knight 15 which was designed and built in 1951 by the same designer, but for a different company. Vantoura's van was apparently brought to Australia a number of years ago by its owner. The external design of the Silver Knight is very 'industrial' visually - no offence meant, Vantoura, I'm just trying to describe how the van looks to me... Anyway, it's a very interesting design and quite different to anything designed in Oz. There's more info on the Silver Knight on Vantoura's Our Touring Past website here. Thanks for posting the article, Bubbles. Don Ricardo
