Okay then.....
I havent been swamped with ideas about what parks are best ... So... Here they are... Just work out where ya wanna hook up with those on the tour and book in. then book the other parks on the nights listed. if ya wanna tag along...
Sat and sunday 8th and 9th of Oct....Eden : Garden of Eden van park 1800224460
Monday 10th ...... Tathra Beach tourist park 02-64941302
Tuesday 11th........River breeze van park - Moruya 02-44742370
Wednesday 12th..Riverside caravan park - Sussex Inlet 02- 44412163
Thursday 13th ...Kendalls Beach Caravan Park - Kiama 02-42321790
Friday 14th .... Coledale Beach Camping Reserve 02- 42674302
Just a reminder if you are staying on at Coledale for saturday night and beyond ya better mention that when ya ring and book friday night there.
At this stage i have not rang and block booked any sites at any parks.. So if someone rings and they are first to let the park know that we are coming , can you block out say 10 sites for Vintage caravanners.
We can work out what we plan on doing and which way we are heading to get to the next van park each day before we leave the park. Minimum organisation ... means a fuss free week away.. Most parks are Ok with hounds.. just ask when ya ring em to make your booking.
If i sound slack... well.. then i am. Not sure where i will be saturday and sunday..Eden??.. Might not get that far south ...so will see ya at one of the parks when i get there.

Thanks reddo, All sounds good. I think the whales will be passing then so i am thinking of booking a cruise in Eden on Sunday morning.i think it is about $70.00. i will check with Cat Balou Cruises, if anyone else is intrested let me know as i think we will need to book asit is very popular. There are lots of grat things to see here on the South coast so i am sure we can all fill our days with no problems, of course keeping in mind to be in camp for happy hour. Cruz

"..oooo ... goody ..i might get "best of breed".. or maybe "Best inbred" Tathra .. site 25 Moruya ..site 113 Sussex inlet.. site 3.. Just a word of warning here at sussex inlet.. there is only 4 powered sites with slabs left and 3 powered sites / grass. Get in while ya can.... if we get anymore than say.. 10 of us on the tour some may have to end up on unpowered sites.... Moral of the story.... to avoid dissapointment Book now if you intend coming along . Kendalls beach.. Just a reminder to do as i have done and contact/pm Geoff and Jude and let em know if you are staying at Coledale on Friday night at the end of the tour ...and any other night after that. Do Not ring the park. Geoff and Jude are doing the co-ordinating of sites again this year... and i am sure if you ask nicely they will do thier darndest to get you back on your favourite site again this year. Its all good. Regards Reddo

Hi Everyone.... ;D Just giving this years East Coast Tour a bit of a rev up here. Its not too late ta tell your boss to stick his job ...... weeelllllll...... for a week at least .... and come along on the tour. This year we are doing a lot less kilometres each day than we did on last years tour.....almost drove around the border of NSW we did... And... it stands to reason that less kilometres means more time for sightseeing and socialising.... And with more socialising time comes longer happy hours in the van parks.. And..... Isnt that what holidays are all about.... being away from work.... and.... being happy. So.... why not pull the chocks out from under the old vintage van...... give that old clunker tow car and oil change and hit the road with a whole heapa people that just love showing off down the highway with thier old vans and cars. Sure.... its great to head off for a weekend at a set point with a group of other vanners ... But .. it pales in to insignifacance when compared to experiencing a week on the road with a stack of other vintage vanners , .... Nothing like sitting in your car at the end of a long congo line of old cars and vans watching em all swaying away up the road.. sorta remanisant of boxing day morning on any east coast highway back in the fifties as familys headed off to the favourite holiday haunts with thier old vans filled to the roof . Little has changed .. except tourpeople enjoy dropping off at tourist attractions, hitting the antiques shops, cruising the backstreets and backblocks of the little towns ya roll through with eyes peeled looking for that old barn find. Just soaking up the atmosphere and pulling up for a cuppa at one of the gazzillion little cafes along the south coast roads. This years tour hugs the south coast and there will be plenty of time to dangle a line and hopefully catch a feed for tea. Moruya... sussex inlet and Kendalls beach van park are all right on the water.....sweet What could be more relaxing than slumping back in a deck chair in your annexe, right on the edge of a river, a cold beer ( or something more toxic if you choose) in one hand. . a rod and reel in the other ....ya favorite tunes oozing outta the old car stereo...a fly landing in one ear......... and walking out the other and.. at least dozen or so of your mildly intoxicated mates laughin and pointing at you telling you that you are wasting your time..... Then ..... Bang..... a bloody great bream takes off with your bait and all of a sudden you are king of the world and.............. .......................................................work just seems ssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooo .. far away. ;D Have i painted a clear enough picture for you yet?? Good..... then get cracking and go back to the start of the thread and see whats doin and where we are staying on this years Tour. If you are still pumped after reading through the replies etc,,,.... well then ring the parks and let em know you are coming with the van mob in October and ya want a spot with us...and.. do us a favour and let us know here on this thread that you are coming with us. One other thing.. Cruz brought to my attention that i had booked a site at Kendalls which was up in amongst the cabins, I phoned them and got evicted down to site 56 If you are coming on the tour make sure you tell em ya wanna be with the rest of the nutcases down between sites 49 to 63. We want you down with us .... sure we love ya... but the real reason is......... ... we can rat through your cheese and jatz Just realised i havent given this years tour and name yet..... Ummmmmm..... ... I'll get back to ya shortly.... Hmmm... think... think... thinkitty think... ???ummmmmmm.... Whales.. fishin.... Ummmm.. yup... i'll get back ta ya shortly with a title.. SIGN UP NOW SLACKO.... Yeah... You. Cheers Reddo

Okey Dokey then.. vannophiles After much deliberation i have come up with a name for the 2011 ..www.vintagecaravans.com East Coast Tour . In light of the magnificent effort displayed in France by our very own ... Pedal Evans......i have named this years event.......... Huh...... wha... whats that you say? ... His name is CADEL Evans.... Ooooooooo jeez... i am gunna havta upgrade my hearing aid.. And here was me screaming ... "go pedal... go pedal"...as our boy Evans thrashed his way up through the Pekanese mountains.... What a legend..... huh... whats that you say... it was the Pirenniese mountains..... Oh bugga this.......I cant get nunnavit right can i.... ;D Anyway... as a tribute to young Cadel on his custom built Malvern Star i am naming this yea........huh.... whats that ya say..... It wassnt a 27 inch malvern star with sturmey archer 3 speed hub gears..... ... Bloody hell.. they where the fastest thing around when i was a kid.... ......well........ almost the fastest thing... there was this good lookin blonde in 4th class that i could never quite lay my hands on at P.E......waay too quick fa me Ok.. Ok... Ok... On with the announcement.. This years east coast tour will .. from here on be known as.... "The 2011 Tour De Vanz ( pronounced "Vance"). Bloody Bewdy Mate.... A yellow t shirt will be presented each morning to the winner of the day befores "stage.... No expense will be spent on this prestigous garmet and it will be signwritten in texta... I will buy an XXXXL shirt so no matter who is awarded the shirt at happy hour they will fit in it...... maybe even use it as an annexe for the night. If the reciever is spotted without the shirt on the next day they will be forced to shout the first round of drinks at "fiveses" . Ongoing planning all the time here folks.... You would have to be insaine.......(.isnt that the river that runs through Paris???) to miss this years tour.... Regards Reddo

Ok.. With only about 5 weekends to go i feel it is time to give the east coat tour just one more push. To quote a famous Mexican...... " We highly recommend this event to anyone who likes to get the best out of their van experience , nothing quite as much fun as the driving, sightseeing and 'van park nights with all your friends.....come on you guys....put your hands up!..... " Like he said...in a word... "Waycool".... Yup... it is a word. I use it in scrabble against my 4 year old grandaughter all the time... Its not too late..... Sign up now.... weather is on the improve. Hell....Bega even got up to 10 the other day... thats bikini weather girls......and boys if you are a cross dresser . Hope to see a few more starters in the next few weeks... Regards Reddo.. Tour de pants...... ummmm... Tour De Vanz Organarser

Okay Guys.. Looks like we have a happy little group signed up for this years tour. Can i just remind all those going that that by now THEY should have contacted each of the van parks listed back in an earlier post and let em know you are staying there on the allocated night. Some parks have asked for deposits. Most havent. I figure if ya spend a bit of time now checking on your bookings it will save a bit of embarrassemnt on arrival at those parks. I apologise for not "Bulk" booking our sites at each park for you this year... been a bit slack.... also can be a bugger chasing people who have stated they are going and i have asked the parks to save em a site.. only to find that they cant make it. Nothing wrong with cancelling out of a tour but can take a few apologies to smooth things with park managers. I havent done anything about a tour sticker as yet .. have a design in my head... but havent tipped my head on its side and shook it out on the counter at the sticker place as yet. Hope to do so real soon. After a few years of organising these tours i have come to realise its more about the cruising/ socialising / catching up with good mates .. than it is about "showbags / maps/ and goodies "i have put together in the past. Really looking forward to catching up with those coming along on the tour .. and catching up with a lot of long term friends i have made over the years we have been attending Coledale. See yas all soon. Reddo

Yo.. Better get ya wiper blades replaced tourers... With under a week to go the weather forecasters are suggesting rain right through until at least saturday Its been raining since friday arvo up here in Newy. Lets just hope the synoptic chart shows no percipitation for the south coast from Friday 7th until the 10th of ... 2012 What am i saying?? .. of course its gunna rain. Its tradition to cop a mini cyclone at coledale on saturday night Really strange "squeaks"coming from under the front right of the old panelvan. Ball joint??.. control arm bushes.. Lucky its a pub holiday.... umm .. public holiday tomorrow. I will be all over... ummmmm.. all under it early in the day. Spent 60 bucks on a pair of 15"flapper whitewalls for the van wheels. Gave em to the local tyre mob to fit... the boneheads used bead lube on em . Both lasted about 3k today on a test tow yesterday. Both stretched and are buggered. Tempted ta get the flat white paint out and paint em on... Just gotta fix the panno.. throw the food and clothes in Öld Blue"and thats me ready to roll... cant wait.. rain hail or shine.. i am gunna be there... I am bringing "Pamela"älong with me this year. You havent met her yet......Its Ok.. i have Trishas permission.... Will get a photo of her up here soon...Tall island girl i picked up the other day when i was out cruisin in the Panno Cheers Reddo Reddo.. seasoned camper.. vintage caravanner..car repairer

Confirmation tonight that Reddo is already at the pub with Cruz, with Pam and John on their way to meet them in moruya. I am going to avoid canberras' "second" long weekend traffic on sat morning and keep clear of the clyde mtn darby by going down the Brown mtn from cooma to tathra. Doesn't take any longer and hopefully going in the opposite direction to most of the ACT idiots racing for the coast. It's Tour de Vans time at last.....you've got the rest of the week to make a last minute start. jennison PS HQ went off with the new owners yesterday ....guess I will have to change my profile photo thingo

Hi Jennison,
seeing your mention of the "Clyde Mountain derby" made me remember when I lived at Braidwood in 1970.
The road was unsafe to attempt to travel on friday arvo/sat morning, & again on sunday arvo, with all the speeding Canberra drivers rushing to the coast & home for the weekend. I even remember one Friday about 5 pm a car rolled over on the turn left from the main street.
The things that jog your memory.
Hope everyone has a great time on the tour. I wish we could have been able to come, but maybe next year it wont be so far away from our end of NSW.
