All panels are now in the first coat of 2k primer. We are now starting to bolt the panels on so we can make adjustments on all the gaps. Starting to look like a car again. Once we are happy with the alignment we will pull it all apart, board file sand the primer then reprime again. Then that has to be block rubbed again ready for the colour. Phew....

G'day Tucky Picked up the hinges from Toowoomba Swap, they are from a ummmmm errrrr ummmmmm Volvo of unkown year. Sorry can't be specific but they would probably be off an earlier car just looking at them.
Cheers Doug

Hi Doug and Tucky I dont know what dougs hinges are off ... but maybe a pair of bonnet hinges of an EH/HR Holden would work in a similar way??? If you left the springs on the bonnet hinges it might save having to mount struts... all depends on how heavy the hard deck is when completed??? Just another half baked thought from the shed of invention Reddo

But everyone knows Volvo hinges are the safest in the world. LOL
Hope there's enough room on the back parcel tray to sit his bowls hat.

Hey Doug . We have the front guards and bonnet on now . We need all the bump rubbers and the bonnet catch etc to check all the gaps. We had to weld the 10 mm back on the passenger side bonnet edge that had been cut off. (why they did that we don't know) Gaps are looking reasonable but we need all the bits to align it fully.

Update. All the panelwork is finished, and the panel gaps are good. All pulled apart again now. We mounted the cab to a frame on wheels so we can push it into the booth. The next step is a primer/sealer coat then on with some black. Block rub again then final black finish coat. Cheers. John

The cab and front guards got sealer primer/black on Thursday. Overall looks pretty good. It shows where we have to concentrate on when we block rub for final coats of black. I will get the rest of the panels in sealer/primer next week so the boys can block rub while we are at Cowra. Hopefully when I get back it will be nearly ready to spray. Has been a huge job but we are nearly there. If we hadn't spent a couple of days on Clydes Fairlane it would have been all done..... NOT !!! Cheers . John
