Finally all finished! But stopping was fun in a vintage car with mad French brakes from the 60s. Clearly stopping when you put your foot on the pedal is unbohemian and somehow un-French. Seatybelts are dodgy too. Was a hairy trip. Anyone reccomend a brand of electric brakes for a Sunny before I kill myself??

Mate, you must be happy with your efforts the combo looks great. I'm jealous, wish mine where done, im on the final straight with my Dodge then if it ever stops raining can start on my sunny again. Curious about the photo location, is it Swansea?

Nice combo, I have just purchased ALKO electric brakes for my van, only problem is I can't fit my 13" rims over them so I will have to go 14"
Might be worthwhile taking a rim with you when purchasing, I have average brakes on my Zephyr so over ride brakes don't suit my needs

Hi Dorian. Guiche guiche ya ya dada Voulez vous coucher avec moi le soir. Lower your suspension + reconfigure the angle of your tow bar, that`ll slow you down better/quicker! Fantastic pairing to say the least. cheers gordon

Sacred Blu - very good ATOG! Yes, it was Swansea Sheppo (no flies on you) - you are not the owner of the Olympic and Sunny on Pacific Hwy in Pelican are you? And thanks Dave. Hopefully if I get some brakes on this thing I'll make it to the big VV meet down Coledale. Don't fancy Bulli Pass without them - merd!

Gee, that's a worry about the ALKO brakes, Bruce. Mmm... Mine are 13s, too. Don't want to lose my whitewalls. Gee...
Yeah, I had the suspension up higher Gordon as I was told it was better for towing but the Citroen forum boys tell me to lower it. So you must be right.

Hi Dorian,
Definitely electric brakes are the way to go if your towcar is not much in braking department.
We set up the brake controller to be easily removed in one instance, so it wasnt such an ugly piece hanging under your dash when you are not towing, which in most cars is most of the time.
Boots used to tow a double horse float behind an early Telstar Ghia manual, up & down the hilly north coast NSW roads ( but slowly)
The electric brakes allowed her to stop pretty well, & were easy to adjust to suit the load, wether one or 2 horses.
It was overloaded to hell, & completely illegal, but it worked for a couple of years until our daughter stopped going to pony club.

Thanks JBJ! Although I'm a bit concerned about having to buy bigger rims - see Bruce's post.

Ahh, so you've seen it too Sheppo - being in Newy. I saw the Olympic out front but is it a Sunny in the back shed I spied or simply wishful thinking?

And quite a few Fords too!
Love the van Dorian. we must get a shoot together one day ( something coming up soon ,will keep you informed). Brakes.......... you can fit electric brakes to the van and not have to change wheel size but.............you will need to get some HR DISC BRAKE wheels. these have different off set to the normal 13" Holden wheel and I think are usually identified by a drilled hole where the hubcap fits.

Hi Dorian,
Its easy to put a spacer on your hub as required. You can get them at tyre services or accessory shops.
The caravan hub has no dynamic ( turning) loads, just weight. Spacers will be safe. I put 25mm spacers on my sunliner, with longer wheel studs from aftermarket shop, to allow use of mags with original brakes.
No different to what they use on cars to clear wheels from hubs.

Humpty, you're alive !!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Great to hear from you. I love your new Sunny!! Ok so HR wheels are the go. Or will the spacers as JBJ suggest do the trick? I'm a little confused. Easily done. Sheppo, I live down the road at the Central Coast but was holidaying with Sunny at Blacksmiths Caravan Park.

Hey Dorian!
How can anything surpass a Goddess towing her own Celestial Cloud !?!?!
A perfect match!
c'est Magnifique! [Forgive my poor attempt at French.]
Congrats on such a great dual build achievement.
Cheers,

Thanks Brian. Do you think over ride brakes are superior to electric brakes?
