This is the first time the Adventurer has seen daylight since 1973, it has been in storage since then. I am picking it up in a couple of days needs a full paint job outside and a freshen up inside. Looking forward to my project and towing it with the Chrysler Royal.

G'day Bob, Well done getting hold of such a nice 'van in such nice condition, she will come up a treat. The roof is probably made of "Canite" which had the ability to bend in two directions and was used by a couple of S.A caravan builders. There is a bit of information about "Adventurer" caravans (and a few others as well ) in the "Down History Lane" forum, have a look because your "Adventurer" may be a re-badged "Rowvan". Cobber.

Well done Bob, Can't wait to see it hanging off the back of the Chrysler around the traps of SA & beyond. Compared to others, I reckon you have got a relatively easy job ahead of you to bring her back to her former glory. Steve.

Gee if only they all looked that good when found, not much work to do there Bob but it looks like you might have to reverse the colour scheme on your Chrysler. The interior looks fantastic, love the floor and curtains. She's a beauty!!!

Hi Bob
Looks great!
Took a while to find your post - "relmhayd" was a bit cryptic for me!

Congatulations Bob. Finally after so long this van is in your hands. (for the forum members Bob first looked at his van shortly after the 2009 caravan and camping show in Adelaide, say March 14 months ago. It has taken this long for the previous owners to get "organised" to sell it) It goes to show 2 things; Firstly the opportunities that come from letting the public know about and see your interest, and secondly that patience does pay good dividends. I'll be over with the BOTE COTE Bob. Cheers Beetles

Hi Bob, Great to see the pics of your Adventurer and to see that you have it home at last. The inside appears to be close to immaculate, and it looks as if the outside only needs a few coats of paint to get it back to good condition. I trust you will have many happy journeys with the van. Regarding Cobber's comment: ...because your "Adventurer" may be a re-badged "Rowvan". and with all due respect to Cobber, your Adventurer is almost certainly just that and not a re-badged Rowvan. According to Lazza (current owner of Roadmaster caravans), Adventurer was involved in building caravans in SA quite early on and for a long period. However, he tells me that one of the difficulties of identifying SA-built caravans is that several manufacturers built vans of very similar style, design and internal layout and set up. Added to that several manufacturers built vans that were re-badged or sold under different names (although usually interstate). As a result it is easy to confuse one brand with another. But your van has the 'Adventurer' name painted on it. Although Rowvan were particularly involved in re-badging, I have never seen any suggestion that Rowvan built vans for Adventurer, so I don't think there's any doubt about who built your van. One interesting thing about Adventurer is that although they were apparently involved in building vans for quite a long period, there are very few still about (or at least very few have turned up on the forum). Makes your van a rather special one. I see you have begun to strip the paint off the outside. Hopefully you can preserve the Adventurer sign, or if not take some good clear photos so that you can reproduce it once you have repainted the van? I have copied some of the photos of your van to the Adventurer thread in the Down History Lane section. Hope that's OK? Don Ricardo

Hi Don, thanks for the comments on the van, its good to know the scarcity of Adventurer vans of that era. I have got to the stage of preparing to paint. I have made contact with a signwriter mate and he has taken photos and measurements of the adventurer signs and the manufacturers sign which was located near the access door. Iam having the same flash reproduced to keep it's originality. Bob

We appreciate the feedback from members, we have had a lot of satisfaction from the restoration, even though it was fairly basic. I don't intend doing another for a while, as we hope to get out and get some use out of this one. Look forward to getting out and meet some of the regular members. Regards Bob
