Not long now . Just over a week before the tour kicks off. Picked up the stickers on Monday . They look cool. I got the stickermakeruppera to knock out a few extra. Will throw them in amongst the auction / raffle stuff at Coledale. Also got something special engraved for each of the participants on the tour. Will make a nice momento of the trip. The tour bags have the usual goodies in there .. lollies etc. Have made up 3 trophies to be handed out on the last night of the tour. Categories are " Best Collector".... knowing that there is a few of us that really dig deep in junk shops, opp shops and just ratting around the towns we will be going through i suspect this award willbe hotly contested " Hard Luck Story ".. one that no one wants to claim but may be won by someone who burns thier sausages.... hope we dont have any "failures to proceed "amongst the vans and towcars The Third award is called.. "The Wallabys Choice".. aint too sure what this one is about...but i will be watching the antics while we are travelling around, setting up, having a few sherbets during happy houir.. there is bound to be something or someone that is a stand out and worthy of the title ... of Biggest Wally ;D As usual each tour bag will have a raffle ticket attached . There will be three prizes to be won on the last night of the tour... again not sure what they will be. but tradition will prevail and the prizes will be edible..or guzzlable... .. 3 prizes and only 10 or 11 tickets which are included in the cost of the showgag.. Down side is... the winners have to share with the rest of us... Wine,, seafood.. chocolates..yummo. so... not long now.. hope all is well with those that have indicated that the are coming along..Always difficult shuffling work commitments and family issues can also spring up at the last minute.. Hope all is ironed out for you shortly and we have a stacka happy campers on the tour... See yas soon on the wallaby trail Reddo

One the way home from the Don rescue mission i noticed the steering got a bit tight going around a bend.. thought no more of it The day before the tour i was doing some "pre - flight "checks under the bonnet and noticed a red blob sitting on the header pipe down near the steering arm on the rack... .. Hmmmm.. so thats where the klaxon horn went ;D Saturday dawned cloudy ... The wallaby was keen to get on the road so i let her drive.. Not long after the kaybess arrived and we headed to Shoal bay for 2 days of R and R before kicking off for Nundle... Caught up with the bugsys and Cruz.. . Spent the day wandering around the Bay and headed to Nelsons Bay RSL for dinner. Up early the next morning and shot ovber to Maitland swap meet. Bought a set of handlebars for the Red Hunter Motorbike. Kris was at her usual best in and out of all the sites collecting treasure along the way. Spotted this big sucker sitting in the carparl at the showground... On the way back we took a bit of a scenic route through the old rivwer towns of Morpeth and Hinton. Ended up at Birubi point on the northern end of stockton beach.. The pickups enjoyed a bit of a scamper about on the sand with some camels... back to camp in time to set up in the camp kitchen and watch Bathurst. The kaybees commissioned a chocolate factory to produce a limited edition chocolate bar for this years tour.. Called "The Wallaby Bar" Shoal Bay can be a rough area so i hired these 2 rough nuts to gaurd Rosie and the other vans while we wherent about... ... My 2 sons... Joel and Luke. They actual only dropped in to clean out my esky... thanks guys!!! It was a same it was ovecast the bay is truely a beautiful place on a sunny day... . Left for Nundle early on Monday morning. While driving over to the highweay i bumped the demister switch which operates 2 12v heaters under the dash.. shortly afterwards i could smell something burning.. i looked over to see blue/grey smoking rising from the left demister vent. Shut off the switch and crank open the vent.... drive for a minute of=r two holding my breath.. all good now On the way up the hunter valley it is not uncommon to see long coal trains running beside the highway.. We got a toot and wave from the drivers near scone. We parked up a side street in scone while some of us did a bit of shopping. thought it would be nice and quiet up there... next minute around the corner comes this... A big Kenny with a house on it. I ran and grabbed the camera thinking for sure he would wipe out a van or 2... he didnt even back off. well done mate. no damage done Stopped off at wingen antique shop and we ratted throughthere for about an hour... Here is a shot of 3 tarts in front of the old bakery next door . From there we motored on up to Nundle . Had to give way to old Angus... one of the locals... Swung into the main street... .. then down to the van park . Thats enough for now. will post the second edition of the tour tomorrow. Reddo

Some more of the tour.. Not long after us from the south arrived at the park the Queenslanders rolled in. Lotsa hand shakes and cuddles as old friendships where rekindled and new ones made. Anyone who atte3nds thsews sort of events will tell you that the vans and cars come a close second and third but the enjoyment we the owners get from from catching up at these sort of events is what makes all the organising and travelling to get there worthwhile A very enjoyable afternoon bathed in brilliant sunshine , catching up, downing a few drinks .... and then down to the camp kitchen for tea. Temperature plumetted after dinner so John K got the fire started and we batted on into the night. Next morning up early and up the main street to check out another antique shop then off to Tamworth. We stopped off at Caffey Dam carpark for a photoshoot of all the tourers cars and vans together... While there i noticed a few of the plastic fly screen streamers hanging out the door of Rosie. So.. when i opened the door to fix the problem i found the van completely full of grey smoke .. It was that thick i couldnt see the door handles on the kitchen cupboards .. Deep breath.. get down low and.. go, go, go. Locate battery and disconnect large clamps.. reach up and open roof vent to let smoke out .. bale out the door ASAP... Still dont know exactly why the wiring decided to do what it did Obviuosly by the look of these wires it was a dead short.. scorched the sponge mattress Burnt about 3 metres of wiring to a crisp. Managed to get some wire at Orange the next day and rewired everything when we where at Katoomba... Where was the fuse when all this was going on Reddo. !!!!!!! anyway ... Back to the tour.. . somewhere between Coonabarabran and Gilgandra we got tangled up with a Fayco wide load and i finally came up behind it .. . Stayed at Dubbo that night. Finally scored a spot with all vans near a nice camp kitchen and good new ammenties . Threatened rain... but didnt. Next day down through Wellington and Orange then on to Mt Panorama Bathurst.. A brief stop on top at Skyline..then down the mountain.. here is Bugsy headin down through the esses headin for conrod straight... . An hour at the motor museum at the track was a well spent $9.50. What a great display of motor racing history... highly recommended. Off over to Katoomba for the last night of the tour. This bloke had just finished his big alloy van and was on the familys maiden voyage from Brisbane to the Great Ocean Road That night we held the usual awards presentation and raffle draw. winners where as follows.. Wallabys choice - Neil and Cheryl with there great HR Ute and Rowvan Hard Luck story - Cruz.. Brake failure after coming down off Mt Panorama in the Rod with van on the back This award was hotly contested by me with a fire in the car, a fire in the caravan, , a cracked windscreen in the F100 and front of the van at the same time courtesy of a B double going the other way..... However.. due to the potential for a major accident the wallaby awarded the trophy to Cruz.; Di Homemade presented me with an engraved pewter goblet which reads "Reddo.. Not just an Electrician.. also a Pyrotechnician" Thanks Di The collectors award ... Kris Kaybee Raffle prizes .. Bottle of Red, Bottle of White, Box of Chocolates, Packet of Tim Tams, 2 KG of Aussie Tiger Prawns.. all shared amongst the rest on the tour. We auctioned a mini Bunndy Bear fridge which was full of fudge .. winner John daniels who bid $32 and promptly donated the prize bacxk for inclusion in the Coledale prostate cancer auction.. thanks heaps John and Pam your generosity is greatly appreciated. We where up early on Thursday morning and had a great run down to the M& and then across to Heathcote road .. then down Stanwal tops road to Coledale. end of Trip.. start of Coledale. There is others who have stayed on at Coledale, others still heading home. I wish you all happy trails and hope to catch ya all next year . I think everyone that went on this years tour had a great time. Planning for next years is now under way. looks like starting form down around Bega somewhere There is also talk of a Vic tour starting a week before the East Coast Tour that will hook up with the NSW tour at Bega. Cheers all Reddo

Great pics thanx Reddo of a fun tour ...... Reddo says: " Anyone who attends thsese sort of events will tell you that the vans and cars come a close second and third but the enjoyment we the owners get from from catching up at these sort of events is what makes all the organising and travelling to get there worthwhile " couldn't agree with you more Reddo ......its the people ..... & the comradery that make our group what it is We have created a fantastic network of people that somehow have a special bond ........thats bond .......not bondwood ;D And how lucky were you not to have a burnt out "Rosie" Mark

Yo.. Thanks for the extra photos Di... I forgot to mention that Di and Cruz ( Leanne) done a great job of towing and setting up thier vans on the tour. Long days , long distances on less than perfect roads , shared with dirty big B doubles. Top effort girls ;D Reddo

G'day all, figured it was about time I put our pics on of the Wallaby Tour ,ably led once again by Reddo.... we made our way up from Melbourne over a couple of days 'coz we reckon getting there is half the fun ,pulled into Goulburn for some gas and while we were waiting for the solitary LPG pump , a feller comes up and starts chatting about the van, turns out his brother is into old vans too.....it was Reddo's brother! ;D.....anyway,we hooked up with the Reddo at Barnsley and set of to the starting point at Shoal Bay. Stayed there on the Saturday and Sunday.....got up bright and early Sunday and went over to Maitland for the swap meet while Cruz stayed glued to the Bathurst coverage ......found some bigg-ish trucks at the swap.... ....almost as soon as we dismounted there,Kris was off and into the bits and pieces.....managed to find a nifty travel iron for Leanne, a "Globetrotter" brand .....same as the caravan.....add to that a few other treasures as well...... then it was back to Shoal Bay with a few touristy spots to stop at along the way...... ....like this one.....about 18 K's on sandhills....looked just like the Sahara....the most amazing thing about this spot is you are allowed to drive your car in here and also along the beach.... the rest of Sunday was spent back at the 'van park checking out the local area and watching the great race.....and hunting for old things in general in the local area.....found this behind the pizza shop in the main street..... Next day saw us on the road , stopping in Muswellbrook to meet up with John and Pam who were joining up with us there. After a brief feeding binge we were off again , stopping just out of Scone at a ripper junk shop where we all fossicked around for some dusty collectibles ...shown below is all of "the Tour-ists"..... .....here is "Fire Chief" Reddo in the second attempted burn down of the trip..... ;D ...luckily there was a bit of water behind us..... ...made it to Dubbo without any more incidents ,where we met up with some friends off the Ozrodders forum.... ....and since quite a few of us on the tour are on Ozrodders as well, we thought it was a good photo opportunity.... ...so there we all are ,except Sutcac....who we couldn't drag into the pic.....I think he's camera shy...... ;D ;D .....this family were staying in the same van park at Dubbo ...... ....they were from Newcastle and on their way to Vic....... ....here's us at Bathurst..... ....Leanne had a few brake issues.....so we went hunting for a repair shop and instead found this.... .....it was at a Caravan repair yard in Bathurst , same guy has a 14ft. Don too, a recent barn find in pretty mint condition....... ....all too soon we finished up at Coledale.... ....where it got kinda windy..... ;D ....and everybody got rugged up.....the dogs didn't seem to mind though...... Kris won the billycart in the raffle.....here it is on it's first roadtest in Vic...... ....we took off early on the Sunday to attend the swap meet at Albion Park , then off up the hill over Maquarie pass and on to Canberra to check out a car we had bought on Ebay just before we left home.....then off down to Gundagai for the night.....was a bit wet.... I think we were lucky to miss the storms on the tour , the weather was really good all the way for us until we got to Coledale , but it was just gale force winds , not the massive downpour that happened nearly everywhere else..... ....another great tour courtesy of Reddo...thanks mate......

Great pics, everyone. Thanks for sharing them and letting us tag along on the tour, if only in our heads.
There are some really great shots there worthy of framing!
A few interesting V V's discovered along the way as well, which is always a special bonus.
