A great find, and in such complete condition too. How common is the wooden (timber?) chassis?
Finds like these keep everyone believing!
Cheers

Hey Humpty.......I have two wheels you can have, pretty sure they're similar to the green rim you posted, I'll upload some pics & you can decide..........only thing is, I'm south of Wollongong.

"Janorma" was registered today, no problems and ready for her maiden voyage after 45 years of being shedded. Adam.....I think I sent you a PM and I will organise pick up of those rims sometime somehow. I will try and find time to do some pictures, but I'm extremely busy at the moment............ getting organised. ;D ;D ;D

As promised I've got some more pictures for you. We started finding all the little scars when we got home, and started patching. I found some original colour of the van, remember the previous owner only knew it in this colour scheme we have from 1949. I also found the windows were originally red. I have spent a lot of time sanding the floor to remove the "cup" in the Oregon floor boards and fill the gaps before finishing them. This Mrs. Humpty cleaning years of kerosine smoke from the stove off the roof with sugar soap. The V8 Ford that looked like being the idea tow car has a case of "saggy bum" .........so it maybe a while before it gets to tow it. I cleaned up the drawbar area. After a new axle (electric brakes) slightly wider than original, and a set of 15" wheels with new easy to obtain tyres ........ some signwriting and registration (Historic/Club) she's ready to go................... We have left the interior original except for the floor boards, it may need some painting later.

G'day Mr & Mrs Humpty, You have been busy little beavers aye? The floor boards have come up a treat …. as has the paint job on the outside. The wheels do look to be set back well past the centre so she will have more than the 10% nose weight, should tow well. What is the overall weight of the 'van ? What have you done with the rear tail light set up ? You were hoping to get some more information about the age and who made Janorma, looks like she could be a bit before 1949 I'm thinking ?....... why am I asking all these questions ... I'm going to see her in the flesh in two days for the start of the run to Lake Goldsmith and Mildura...... I'm really pleased you made the effort to get her ready for this run, she should be a sensation ...... whoops ... did I say that I like the colour co-ordinated step too Cobber.

G'day Cobber, We think it could be a bit earlier than '49 too, and I have searched everywhere to try and get a date off galv iron, plywood and masonite or a little signature, but I can't find anything. The "girls" will forward anything they find in the house regarding the van when they go through it. I haven't had it weighed, but your right about the axle set back. Unfortunately Jan & Norma can't be at Lake Goldsmith, they will be in Mildura and leaving just before we get there. She's ready to go, just a few little touch ups!! Tail lights....for my own peace of mine we do have blinkers and stop lights, unfortunately I haven't been able to purchase period pieces yet, but the tombstones (sideways) with a bit of chrome tape and the Lucas number plate light look ok. The timber floors......what do you see when you go into a modern van these days? ........fake wood floors. This is how they should be, nothing fake here.....not trying to impersonate a modern van though. 1 day to go.........looking forward to the trip........and the destination.
