We made it home from Coledale in the 37 Chev. with the teardrop in tow even though we had some problems with fuel vaporising on the longer hills where the engine temperature was getting near the panic line . Judy and I really enjoyed the tour and the finale at Coledale - what a great bunch of people. It was terrific to put faces to internet names and forge some friendships that hopefully will be renewed on future events. A big thank you to Reddo for the time and effort taken to put the tour together and I am sure you agree that it was all worth it. Here are a few photos we took. Braidwood Stop for lunch Nelligen camp Lunch Stop at the Kings - a great feed and time to relax Says it all Moruya camp - we had great caravans parks Lineup of vans at Moruya Coledale Camp Coledale Beach Coledale Lineup of vans Hope you all made it safely home. Hi All, First day back at work today after 8 nights of road tripping in a caravan was hard.. If only i had a dollar for everytime i said "I wish it was this time last week".... Unfortunately i cant post my pics, but Kingy's Ken's and Reddo's all do the job well! I met up with the crew, late, very late on Saturday night in Goulbun. Fortunately for me, i was quiet enough pulling in that i was greeted in a friendly manner by the troops the following morning! Most nights i was asked "So whats it like travelling with a group of old farts", and each time i had no reply. Now with the advantage of hindsight, i guess my response would have been "its like hanging out with my mates, but with silver hair!! ;D Maybe i shouldnt have said that!! I had a great time, couldn't of travelled with a better bunch of people. Special thanks to Reddo for organising a great tour, and to the Kingy's for their hospitality on Monday. Also to Dennis for spotting me $50 in Braidwood when my cards wouldn't work Highlight of the trip probably would have been the incident with Clyde's horn late on Wednesday night in Ulladulla! Lowlight, probably the thought of climbing up out of Coledale in the heat yesterday. Not a problem for the old girl, but a temp gauge probably wouldn't go astray! Thanks again to all for a great week. Cheers J

Hey, Reddo and other East Coast Tourers and Coledale-ites,
Looks like you all had a great time. Good to see the weather was kind. I suppose there have to be some upsides to a drought, although we need the rain so badly!
And those of us who couldn't be there...? Well, we've had second hand fun just looking at the photos, so thanks for sharing your pics with us.
Where else would you see such a great collection of rigs? Only Mount Gambier! Looking forward to it.

Hi All, Got home OK last night. It was a great 10 days of good company & lovely parts of Australia. The Sunliner came through its first big trip without any problems, other than breaking a tail light while man handlin it into place at Coledale . Our trip started out badly, with our dodge towbar falling apart just 1 hour into the trip. So back home, picked myhotrod & Boots Kia to continue on with. You cant get 3 people into the rod, & we had our grand daughter Izy with us. Our first stop at Goulburn was in a good clean park, but very little grass because of the drought. It was fan heater on at 4.30 am both nights, just like the Goulburn we remember when we lived there in the late 70’s Off to Braidwood on Sunday, & lunch with a lot of memories for me . My oldest daughter was born there in 1970. Koala’s teardrop from Boots side of the rod at top of Clyde Mountain. Nelligen park was very nice, & we all kicked back while Sugarshack & a local tradesman repaired the broken bits on his fairlanes power steering. Then off for tea at the pub. The river views at Nelligen were a bit rough img.photobucket.com/albums/v309/jailbarjuice/2007tour004.jpg[/IMG] Next day a short trip to moruya, & one of the best parks I’ve been in. Most of us perched on the riverbank Jrod had a beautiful spot for his very nice Franklin & HT towcar. Boots thought she could sneak a snack. Reddo had a cold breaky after the Ebay Queen blew all the fuses with her old toaster. We all lined up for a photo shoot, then off to the kingy’s place for a great barby lunch, & photos taken for the local paper. Then off to Ulladulla for our next stop. Ulladulla was a great park. Full of wildlife. We spent 2 relaxed days there Diane & Allan deciding something The start of another session The locals joined in Allan had quite a conversation with this guy I hate flashers Boots had a surprise when she tried to eat her scone Ken lost his bickies Wayne having a good dream, after I took him for a run to show him how well a big cube Ford engine could run.. Luckily the mirror hid his smile so Sharon couldnt see it We left and cruised up the coast. Boots & I stopped off to see how Kiama's blowhole was working. It looked as we remembered it. We got to Coledale & set up . We took a quick trip up to Kurri Kurri on friday to pick up Izy & Chy, & Boots car to carry them. The girls didnt take long to catch up & renew last years friendships The sunglass brigade shooting it. It was great to see Mark & ditzy over here for the event. Trick or treat Everyone loved partying & dressing up Boots & the devil ( maurie) And finally the two best men there So all of a sudden its over. Thanks everyone for what they contributed. With an event like this, lots of involvement is required from a lot of people. Its an example of how co operative effort works, & most of the people putting in the effort dont expect to get recognition or thanks. But we all know & appreciate who does the things as they are done. Thanks everyone. See you next year. Jailbarjuice & Boots

Quote: 'Fact 6 37 Chevs do more than 50mph with a TD on behind.' Hey Reddo, what happened was that I didn't want to slow up the 'modern' cars on the tour so I flogged the old Chev along. It wasn't until Moruya that I found out that the 'modern' cars were having a bit of a struggle keeping up - so we had a bit of a undeclared race. Additionally the teardrop is shaped like a aeroplane wing so the faster I go the lighter it gets - don't know what the critical speed is for liftoff though. Note that Jailbars post provides photographic evidence that the Chev. (GM product) led the big Ford V8 down the mountain. Koala

Ok Koala,
I thought it safer to stay behind you going down Clyde Mountain.
It'd take a hell of a lot of Chev power to stay in front if I was trying to run as leader.
I prefer to travel near the back so I can help with breakages & other problems. Thats the main reason I never go out near the front of the Conga Line.

Hi everybody, and fellow East Coast Tour Shindiggers! Well what a shindig it was. Without the great effort of Reddo, I’m sure it wouldn’t be anywhere near as good . Thanks, mate! We saw places that you would normally never go to. (Maybe we’re not normal?!) Un fortunately, most people are in too much of a hurry these days. What a great group of people we met. It was a pleasure to travel with you all. Special thanks to Col for his unique ability to scout and sniff out a solution to every problem-ie-Ron the Welder at Nelligen, and Sutcac’s wheels last year. Thanks to Kingy and MaryAnn for a great welcome and lunch at the ranch About next year……It’s looking good, Reddo! We’d recommend it to anyone thinking of going. Sugarshacks On the road again-Goulburn-here we come! Leader of the Pack Are you still with me, Kingy?! KINGY! KINGY! I’m thinking of going on “The Inventors” I call it “The D O U B L E A D A P T O R ’ ’ ] How’s the serenity? Bonnie Doon- Eat your heart out! Coledale really brings out the Devil in Cobber! Maurie made his daughter peddle all the way from home!

Im with on that one bigkel. Trouble with Cairns is that is an outpost. LWFFA (long way from frigging anywhere) perhaps in years to come we could meet in the middle somewhere, perhaps hideaway bay or dingo beach down near proserpine.

G'day gang, Finally had the story of us at Moruya go to print (came out yesterday) and was a little dissapointed with the quality of the photo - typical of our local paper The guy who did the story sorta got all the details correct , anyway they got the website right, thats a bonus. As you know we took your addresses to pass on a copy of the article, I'll now only send to those who really want a copy as i mentioned the photo's not real clear, and because there were 10 of us not everyone's van got into the photo. Cheers Kingy

Hi Ya Kingy. I will grab a copy. Naaa not because my TD is in the picture. I am scrapbooking all these sorts of clippings from papers and mags. While we are on the subject of the Kings from Moruya . I would like to thank Steve and Maryanne for doing the research work on Nelligen and Moruya van parks for the spring tour. These 2 parks where two of the best parks i have ever stayed in.... probably because we had grass to walk around on instead of red dust. Without thier "Local knowledge" we may not have stayed in such luxurious surroundings. Can be difficult sorting out good tour stop overs by just looking at glossy brochures or websites. This plus the fact that they opened up thier place and bunged on our lunch time BBQ on monday of the tour makes you realise just what a great bunch of people are associated with the vintage van movement here in OZ. Thanks you guys Look forward to your company next tour. In the meantime i am gunna tow the van out the front and wait for the posty to drop off the newspaper article..... Forever vannin' Reddo

Most of our photos from the East Coast Tour are duplicates of ones that you have already put up, but here are a couple of different ones. Front view of the cars and vans parked at Batemans Bay Rear view of the vans parked at Batemans Bay Another rear view at Batemans Bay The view from our caravan at Moruya - what a great caravan park !!!! What’s the saying – A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush, well I wonder what 2 birds are worth ?? After an evening around the campfire at Ulladulla - this possum had picked up a few drinking tips from us ;D ;D Regards Di & Al

Hi all, Sorry I haven’t put my comments on line as yet – it’s been a hectic week at work. Well what can I say that hasn’t already been said re: the 2007 East Coast Tour. Alan and I had a great time, it was lovely to go on the tour with such a great bunch of really genuine people. I hadn’t been that far down the south coast for some years and it was lovely to travel at a relaxed pace (when Alan wasn’t putting the boot in) and get a chance to smell the roses – so to speak. A few words to all the tourettes (not in any particular order). Reddo you’re a legend! (but I’m sure you already know that). You should give up your job and take up a position in Events Management. You put a lot of effort into organising the tour (caravan parks, tourist info, maps, stickers, prize draw etc etc) as well as making up the great goody bags – many many thanks. Steve & Maryann if you ever give up your jobs, you could make a great go of a catering company. What lovely food at your place and cooked to perfection, c’est magnifique!! – thanks for having us all to lunch. Jailbarjuice & Boots – Perhaps you shouldn’t give up your job JBJ, especially if you plan on taking up a job as an electrician – that double adapter looked lethal. Thanks for the steak loan. By the way have you done up a list of the Pink Jobs and Blue Jobs yet??? Thanks for the cuddle Clyde, there’s nothing like being accosted by a stranger in a caravan park !!! Barb thanks for the sausage (I bet that’s got people thinking??). Sorry we didn’t get to say goodbye but we didn’t want to wake you from your nanna nap!!! J-Rod – Not many caravans have a seating area that’s set up like “Party Central”, it’s great. Let us know when you Christen the new orange BBQ and we will try and come along!!!, nothing like inviting ourselves. Bruce & Jan – Pixie is so cute, you must love her. I enjoyed our chats re: England and the Narrow Boats – it definitely bought back memories. Hope you can find a brush for the dustpan for Pixie. Wayne and Sharon – Your tow car and caravan look great together - 1959 what a great year!!! Alan is talking about getting a larger caravan. Perhaps we will also have to get a 59 van to go behind our 1959 Dodge. Ken & Jude – What a great job you have both done with your teardrop, you should be very proud. Queen size luxury – I’m jealous. Love the man’s cupboard. Col and Kris – Just loved the “Lemon Drop” it looks great and it's a very suitable name!! (Sorry Col) . Thanks for taking the annex poles down to VIC for Firefighter. By the way Kris, were you using Jailbarjuices double adapter when you had problems with your old toaster?? I just looked up “Lemon Drop” on google and it turns out that it’s also a recipe for a Martini – perhaps you should have drink whilst next out in the teardrop!!! ;D ;D 1/2 oz vodka 1/2 oz lemon juice 1 sugar cube Add sugar to the rim of an old-fashioned glass, and drop a cube or packet of sugar into the bottom of the glass. Pour vodka and lemon juice into a stainless steel shaker over ice, and shake until completely cold. Pour into the prepared old-fashioned glass, and serve. Seems apt to finish here as the last comment was on Alcohol !! Hope to see you all around the traps again soon. Hopefully we make it to Mount Gambier. Best regards Diane
