Hi Dave n Tina,
Don't think you got a reply on that, so here it is: Blue Lakes - aka Mount Gambier SA is in the South East of SA appox 100k from Vic border. It is approx 3.5-4 hours from Ballarat. If you've never been there, it is a beautiful spot. Lots of caves and wineries in the region.
Cheers,
Gristy

Hi Gristy, Haven't been on this part of the VV website for ages. Yes, at this stage will drag the van with the Humpy. Although have got the EJ if req'd. I just need to make sure I have right globes in the van at the time....6v for Humpy, or 12v for EJ. Seems my trip to the Mount will be a Sunday drive (literally), compared to a lot of you others.....just over 300km from Pinnaroo to the Mount. Cheers Urkel

Hi All With the Mt Gambier National Vintage Caravan getogether just over 8 weeks away i have been sifting through the two main threads with relevant info trying to get a handle on just how many are booked in at Blue lakes Caravan Park. From Geoff and Judes "Meander to the Mount" posts i gleen - 16 vans doing that great week long tour. Obviuosly they have all booked into blue lakes .. so 16 . From this thread "VC Nationals Booking arrangements" I have found 11 people have confirmed bookings. Now some of these are people on "the meander to the mount". Allowing for the local south Oz people turning up ,those coming from WA, and others just rolling in from wherever a conservative guess on the total number of attendees is around 25 to 30 vans. ? Perhaps someone might like to spend some time sorting through the posts and cross referncing to get closer to real numbers ... but i suppose it doesnt really matter all that much. By the night of Monday 17th i reckon we will have the full contingent in place at the Mount. Cant wait Reddo

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D... i could have done this 46 smiley times ..plus more. How good is this kids. Almost 50 Vintage vans from all over 'Stralia in the one place... ... under the southern cross...at the one time... Putting ourselves on the map... Bloody bewdy eh. ;D ;D ;D Putting faces to forum names , AND doing what Vintage vanning is all about. towing , using and doing what our "not so distant ancestors" did not so long ago. I can almost taste the Metho, Kero, LPG , the smell of euka.. eaucalyp.... GUM LEAVES .. burning in the campfire. Its been 2 years since Morgan Vintage Van Nats 2006 and let me tell ya. I was there....and...If you have any interest in this hobby ......YOU DO NEED TO BE AT MT GAMBIER 2008. I strongly urge anyone that is at "6s or 7s " about going to this event to say to yoursaelves" bugger the Mortgage.. We are going". Ok the kids might miz sum edumacating ... but hay... it didn doo me no harm ta hav a fuw days ouuta spelloon classz Ok ....i might be sounding a bit patriotic but .... Stuff all the great times we have had in our own /neighbouring states,,, stuff all the other get togethers around OZ......This is/will be.. as good as old vanning gets... thats the truth folks. Geoff and Jude have put a lot of hard work in to get the "Meander to the Mount " on its feet and i would have loved to have been part of it. But i have been "hamstrung "as far as that tour go's. There is heaps of opportunity to latch on to the tail of that tour and the good times and memorys that go with travelling, sightseeing, socialising, happy 10 houring..... it will stick with you forever... Honest... DO IT. ;D There is a strong contingent coming from W.A and what they lack in numbers will be made up in enthusiasm. After all you have got to remember it is the foresight of Mark Taylor (MarkT..)and then Ditzy person. that has bougfht a=us all together. ... ooo buger a few typos back there .. but on .. I .. type.. You have read volumes about Will and Lyn . Lemme tell ya these people have "Hearts as big as Texas". As soon as you shake hands with them and the rest of those doing the long yards from W.A and spend 2 minutes yarning you will know with em you will know what i am on about. .. Its true I know its fine to clatter away at the keyboard and supply" Know how , knowledge and comaraderie " to our new and old members but this event is the culmnination of everybodys effort to promote, encourage, urge , persaude , convince, people that we arent a bunch of nutcases, ........No, No,No ....WE ARE GENIUNE ENTHUSIAST OF A HOBBY THAT IS UNSURPASSED AS A GREAT PASTIME .GETS US OUT OF OUR HOMES , ON THE ROAD, UNDER THE SOUTHERN CROSS, MEETING REAL AUSSIES, INTO THE BUSH , AND ENJOYING THIS GREAT COUNTRY....So.. do it... ring Blue lakes caravan park .. NOW....and be a part of History..... Footnote: www.vintagecaravans.com..... No president, No secretary, No treasurer, There are no rules..Ya gotta be happy with that, Disclaimer: Thoughts , words and deeds are those held by a deranged, twisted, self excilled person that through association with vintage caravans no longer has control of commonsense or decency Just a small corner of morgan 2006 Reddo

Hi all, Wow - and only 57 sleeps until we hook up the Franklin and head orf!! Add to that list of vans, 1 more, my bro-in law will be tagging onto the "Meander" convoy with us - complete with his FC and 50s plyvan. My oldest child's school principal said to take as long off school as we like - and I figure any billy-lid would get a dray load more life education out of this trip than a week or so at school! Bring it on, looking forward to putting faces to names, BSing round the camp fire and checking out some cool cars, vans and accessories. Not to mention having a holiday...... Cheers, Gristy ;D

Hi All Van Nationalites Just dug out my reservation reciept for Blue lakes Van Park and read through it again before sticking it in the knife and fork draw of the most wanderfullest ever Fobbergross sunliner . Just a reminder that the reciept states "NO PETS ALLOWED". Been mentioned in an early post on this thread. I reckon that this really sucks . Just like vintage vanners there is a few travelling companions that enjoy these gatherings as much as we do. . There are 3 lovable Jack Russells that i have met over the years of vintage vanning Sutcacs, Kingys and Ray Roehms little mutts. Also Humptys Maltese terrier can be well behaved ( if kept on A.D.D medication and a leash) . All have their own characters and are no trouble in van parks. What a pity so many van parks take such a hard line on "pets" nowadays. Thats it from me.. Just thought i would mention the "Hound clause" in case someone was intending bringing one to Blue lakes van park. Me?? ...... ....I am bringing an avery full of 20 white cockys and a dozen roosters so no one sleeps in past 5.00am each morning ;D Reddocockadooddledoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... ;D

Hi Reddo, That's interesting that you mentioned that you have a receipt from Blue Lakes. I booked over the phone and paid by Credit Card, but haven't ever received a receipt. Has everyone else got receipts? Perhaps I should make another phone call - just to double check. Regards Di

FYI Gave the Blue Lake a call. They do have my booking - phew. They mentioned that there are a few bookings that they haven't sent the receipts out for as yet. They are working their way through the pile. So if you don't have yours yet, it should arrive in the next week or so. Regards Di

I've phoned a couple of times in the past 12 months to make a booking, and they've told me there's no need to book, as they have a huge area allocated for the vintage vanners
