Hi all
Took Ed the EK ute and Matilda for a day out at Raymond terrace show and shine on sunday. Plenty of Bling and squillions of dollars worth of cars and rods etc.
Came across a bloke towing his own version of a teardrop camper
behind a rat jailbar ford ute..
Got yarning with him about his gaurds and he said he had two slightly smaller versions at home. Long story short I bought them off him today $60 for the pair. came straight home and dangled them on the TD to see how they sit/look.
They where made for 15" wheels . the chrome wheel in the picture is 13" with a 205 radial. tyre is 9" across and the gaurd is roughly 10". If i mount them up out of the way a few inches i dont thinkthey will cause any problems even with the 17" chev wheels.
Gunna look a bit odd with 5" wide rims and tyres under 10" gaurds.
Anyway...Guards found .....One less thing to hunt for on the TD project.
Oh bye the way......
Won Jack shit in the trophy grab. But who needs trophies when ya have already scored a coupla mudguards i say!!!
Got a few more leads on old vans from the hundreds of people who trampled through poor old Matilda..... Dang near wore the lino out.
Every single person that came out the door had a smile on thier face and a story to tell about childhood camping adventures.
Some of the chicky babes where pretty easy on the eye as well.
Ran into a mate i hadnt seen for 20 years. Handed him a stubby and the next thing i know the local Newcastle morning herald photographer is asking as if she can get a shot of " a coupla Aussies enjoying a beer with the old van in the background"
She was kind enough to email me a couple of great wide angle pix at work on monday. However she has put an electronic curse on them and i cant forward, burn to disc or save them to any drive on my 'puter???
Also managed to score a few old memrobilla odds and ends as well. One bloke came back with of all things, an original unused 1950s weetbix box . said he had pulled a stack of em out from under his grannies lino in her kitchen.. Fair dinkum ya just never know whats gunna come your way at these show days.
I had the Vint van display board out and created plenty of interest in www.vintagecaravans.com as well.
You should see the expression on the clubbys faces when i tell em we are not a club yet have over 400 happy forum members.
A look of total disbelief.... or is that envy ;D
Cheers all
