the carrington use to be a good pub about 10 years ago,i bought a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 down the road from there years ago.I just sold the workshop manual on ebay to some guy in Japan earlier this year.Cheers DAVE.

Hi Vintage Vanners wherever you may be

Maurie picked us up from the airport at 7am
great guy and three great kids we look forward to catching up to Maurie and family at Cole dale
did some sight seeing on the way to the trucking company
thanks a lot for picking us up Maurie we are indebted
so when you come west you are welcome to stay with us
must thank chippy Dave for his kind offers to stay at his house however Reddo lined up a car and Rock n Roll night in Newcastle

We started by picking up the truck (effy)and JFK(van)
headed off to Reddos at Barnsley near Newcastle
was a red hot day Lyn and Trish and Bill the alchoholic dog jumped in the pool
Reddo and I sunk a few nectars(tooheys extra WET)
then we went to the newcastle car and rock show
good time had by all
saturday we had some more tooheys
and some more and had a pre Coledale sing song

with Trish and reddos two boys Joel and Luke and Lukes girlfriend

repeat performances of morgan everybody rolling in laughter

today Sunday Jailbar Sue and there Grand daughter Izzy arrived a 7am at Reddos we headed off and got to Lithgow at 2 oclock

set up camp and people started arriving

we all went to Jenolan Caves
what a great day
little Izzy JBs grandaughter was recruited as a junior guide and did a fantastic job got all of he questions right from the guide

we have 9 vans on this run
and what a great bunch of people
4 queenslanders 1 victorian 1 from WA and 3 NSW vans

Nothing has changed we had a group party at cols little teardrop van tonight
The reddo show was undwerway and side splitting laughter
for about three hours until the cold nearly froze us then we went of to bed
tomorrow we head off on our week run
we have had three days of great times fun and laughter
and another week left I hope we can keep up the pace

Hi all you V Vanners
here we are in Coledale and there is 31 V Vans here and more to come

super eventfull week
Wayne and Sharon (Sugarshack) had some badluck with there fantastic 59 two door fairlane skyliner
they broke down in sydney had to go home and bring thereback there jeep
Lyn and I stopped with them for moral support in a busy Sydney thorough fare until they moved off

We had a problem at Lithgow the whole town ran out of gas
country NSW has a real problem supplying gas to motorists
scone another large country town with no gas so if you are intending touring country NSW top up at every opportunity
and do not run the tanks down and expect to gas up
my range is 450 ks towing JfK but if you let your guard down and not top up at every opportunity it can put you a day behind
which is what happened to us
we had to catch up which we did by eight oclock that night
Reddo shredded a tyre on his van
sutcac had a bearing and hub shatter
but all was handled well no further damage
Eagle eye Col found a rare tyre by sighting a ford prefect and picked up a spare for reddo

we had a bar -b- q at reddos on thursday and presented him with a fully signed toilet seat
not to be out done the inimitable reddo got col (kaybee)
to hold the toilet seat in front of his head held the toilet roll between his fingers and became australias first human toilet roll holder
so many great experiences and very little time to do anything other than have the best time with the best people

I have lots of good photos and I guess so does everyone else
so there will be an abundance of them when he Sydney siders get home
we will be travelling to northern NSW and staying at sue and Jailbars for two or three days
then we are going to stay at Sutcacs for a couple of days in Queensland (Clyde and Barbaras) then have a look around hervey Bay
then down to Victoria to Coll and Chrises house in croydon
to say hi then see a mate in Warnambool
PHHOOOO! then Home to W A.
I must say we Have a great opportunity for any one who wants to take the time to grab a vintage Van and either do it up or buy one that is already done up to change there lifestyle for the better
I think the beautifull people of the world all belong to this site
so to the guest who hasnt got a life keep on logging on and pick yourself up a vintage Van and join all of us lucky V Vanners who have a great lifestyle meeting great people and exploring australia and our respective states hidden treasures
for instance jailbars 11 ft Purdon is a fantastically restored Vintage Van and fora ll of the work he has put in to it you can buy it for $4500 dollars and change your lifestyle for the better intantly
or pick up a van for as little as $1000 if you have got time on your hands and restore it
I have restored a couple and believe me buying one restored for you is an easy option unless you pick up an extreme bargain

Lots happening here at the moment and we are looking forward to the hawaiin dress up night with music 8 til 12
we have a Caterer tonight doing the roasts for us $20.dollars a head how much better can it get

when you put that first vintage Van site up talking about your collection
thanks to Jenny for all of the work she puts in keeping it all rolling

thanks to each and every ones personal effort to make this group what it is today (and it is still early days)

I truly believe that this site is the best of its kind in the world and Vintage Vanning is one of the chepest hobbies you can be involved in for the returns it gives
for instance a standard brand new van without a vehicle can cost on average around $30.000 to $40.000 dollars up
a Vin van $5000 dollars and a Vin car $10.000 dollars
$15000 dollars gives you a unique interesting hobby with unequalled opportunity to explore new country and new friendships at a minimal cost
we were on the WIN 4 news last night 5 minute report and heaps of people checking out the vans and cars
meanwhile no one is looking at the $100.000 plus rigs

Yep we have got it good in this group
and it gets better
we made the trip from WA
five others came from Queensland 1 from Victoria and 1 from Tasmania
so come on you South Australians get it on

Hey Will and Lyn
Glad to hear that all is well and your all having a great time. Breakdowns and little mishaps are to be expected and are all part of the fun if you with them to be. Just make sure you can look back and laugh at them later.
If you havent been to Hervey Bay before. Enjoy. ITs beautiful at this time of the year , the water is clear and the tides are full, great for swimming etc. All the van parks are right on the water so it should be nice for you.
I spent another day working on PH , not sure if it was a successful day or not but at least she is now up to lock up stage.
Stay safe on the roads and remember that idiot driver was probably you.

This is the old van the postie at Gulgong steered Cobber onto. looks sorta English?? Made of aluminium. only about 10ft long . look its got portholes.too. sadly it would take a lot to restore to its former glory.


Only in Dunedoo for 10 minutes and they named the crapper after him. !!!


Whats that flapping noise Reddo. Jeez i dunno ... better turn the radio up so it goes away. Had all sorts of hassles doin a wheel change on the side of the road near Dunedoo. 16" wheels can be a real hassle to get up under the wheel arch. Luckily Cobber came back to help me. took two jacks and a lot of swearing to fit the spare.

After being given another lead on an old van we went to check out a bondwood at Muswellbrook and found these in the shed for sale

This is a 14' bondwood minor damage on top rhs corner. new frige island beds. rego label says ..make.. "Baker" we noticed the name on the aluminium windows was "baker" . I reckon its a Franklin by the window layout and also looks very similar to the '64 franklin that Earlee has just bought.

The lake bunged on a glorious sunset for us.
Its a pity we didnt have Thursdays weather follow us to coledale.

Had a great tour. Thanks everyone for the kind words and the tee shirt presentation at Coledale. There is nothing that comes close to the enjoyment you get from travelling with a group of people who enjoy the vintage van hobby and camping under the stars in OZ. I have already started plotting the 2007 tour.
Next year will be a bit different . Working on staying near the coast down south of Coledale at 3 different beach front parks with every second day being a lay day/no towing and allowing plenty of time for sleep ins and sight seeing..
Good news eh "Boots".. also told the flys to buzz of as well.
