Hi Juicy I for one would be interested in heading up there with my van and whoever else wants to get in the car with me. . My thoughts are that i couldnt afford , nor would i want to return to Morgan every year . So i would consider something closer to home every second year. Morgan was 1450 there and 1850 back. Boyds Bay is around about 700k from Barnsley. Overnight it at Ballina and rock into town the next morning Wintersun and vint van get together one year and maybe Morgan the next or maybe a year or two after that.. I am not sayin dont have a national Morgan meet every year . i am just sayin i wouldnt / couldnt afford a big trip like that every year so i would opt out year or two about. I am sure the west coasters would agree on this point. especially after the blow ups, breakdowns and roger parting ways with baa barraaa An escape to a warmer climate for a week or so mid year sounds good to me. We stayed at Boyds Bay Tourist Park about 5 years ago over Xmas. Midgies drove us crazy. Trish virtually had to stand up all the way home with big red lumps and blotches all over her legs. hopefully these little buggers wont be an issue Mid winter. Is there somewhere out behind Tweed/Coolangatta to stay that isnt likely to be overun with sandflys /midgies??? Anyway mate . Your plan sounds great. Cruise all day around Wintersun and escape back to the van park to enjoy our hobby and reclaim our sanity. reddo - from the much colder side

Hello vintage van people. I have just become one of you! Just recently bought a ?50's caravan which I hope to restore to its former glory. I think Wintersun 2007 might be the perfect goal to have it finished by!

Just checked out the Kirra Beach Caravan Park website and they offer discounts to caravan clubs , opps theres that word club again , and they are owned by the gold coast City council who are a major sponsor of the Wintersun event . Next year is the 20th annaversary of wintersun and there is some big things planned. I will contact Backfire Bill who is on the wintersun commitee and see if we can organise a deal with the council for a group deal for 2007 ;D ;D. Cheers, Steve (santa28a)

Hi All, To get the ball or should I say vans rolling, I have booked 8 powered sites (apparently more are available) for Vintage Caravanners at the Kirra van park for Wintersun 2007. Kirra Park is the closest park to Coolangatta and is within stumbling distance of the venues. www.gctp.com.au/kirra/default.htmWintersun starts on Friday 1st June and finishes on Monday 11th of June 2007. I have booked the sites for 3 nights starting on Friday 8th June. Cost is about $25 for 2 people per night. If anyone wants to stay for the whole 10 days or a different period, then that’s available. There is a $50 deposit required by the park to secure each site. I am prepared to be the (bunny) collector of money tokens and hold the sites as required. I will hold a site for someone once the $50 deposit is received. (we don’t want a repeat t-shirt job do we??) Plywood vans and teardrops are instantly acceptable but fibreglass jobbies will have to have Reddo’s approval. ;D ;D So Far.. 1. Earlee. 8-11 june 2007. 2. vacant 3. vacant 4. vacant 5. vacant 6. vacant 7. vacant 8. vacant. pm me for payment details, or phone Len at Kirra on (07) 55817744 if you want to make your own booking. For those who haven’t been to a wintersun before – the following pics give an idea of how popular old vans are .. wintersun 2006.

Hi earlee Glad you have grabbed the bull by the horns and booked the sites. I am a "definite maybe starter" at the moment. Each June long weekend i have traditionally gone on a bike rally at Nambucca heads for 4 days. Might look at alternating between the two events. one year Kirra - vans next year Nambucca - bikes . I had a yarn with a few blokes who went this year. They reckon the place gets packed . One bloke got up at 4 in the morning to park his car down the street. managed to get it back out about 9.00pm that night. Not gunna be an issue if we are parked in the van park. Unless of course ya wanna get ya car in the midst of things. I would be happy to just wander around and check things out. "Have esky can travel" . Will PM you once a decision has been made, and get your postal details. Reddo ... Sorry about any typo errors. i have a few splinters in my fingers Bondwood Vans . " Made of wood ... so ya know its good ". Fibreglass "Viewed from the back... resembles a Ducks Ars

Hi Earlee
You can include us and Marilyn for the 2007 Wintersun booking.
W thought it would be easier on you and we just spoke to the Kirra Caravan park told them we want to be in the booking for the Vintage Vanners.
She confirmed the 8 bookings you made so we are now part of the booking.
We will send them the deposit as it will save you the trouble.
Thanks for doing what you have done Regards Kathryn, Paul and Marilyn
PS We can lend a tent to interstate vanners if needed

Earlee, Put us down for a site. We have had a booking at Bilinga for a beachfront retro beach house for the last three years . Cheap as chips compared to what they are paying in Coolangatta, but it has gone up from $275 to $475 a week for 2007 !!! Cheers, Santa28a

Hi JBJ & Earlee
Consider Site number 8 taken Fri 8/6/2007 - Check out Monday 11th. - Name: Reddo Will contact kirra Beach Tourist Park and pay deposit today. looking forward to it. Might even be able to talk Trish into coming with me... she loves the beach and sun. If she is too crook to travel up in the EK Ute i will pay for her flight up and back. Pick her up at Coolangatta airport.
Thanks goes to you two for organising things. Much appreciated.

G'day JBJ
After reading previous posts by Spyder and gents pref blondes i thought that ringing and booking was the best option. One less thing to worry about next year and peace of mind knowing i have a site booked.
I figured if i mentioned the V V mob over the phone and forwarded them a deposit i would be placed on the last of the 8 sites that earlee had booked.
Earlee can you put my name on your list as No:8
Let me know if there is something different to this i should do fellas.
Is asking Earlee for his address and sending him the $$$ a better option.
Reddo

reddo ;D its up to you. the main idea was to get something booked as accomodation can be scarce if not pre arranged. I have paid the deposit for the 7 sites to make sure we will have them. (gents/blondes paid for their own before i paid for the lot). So there is one site left in the group booking if you want it. JBJ has more sites booked - i dont know if he has paid deposits? or you could start your own individual or group booking. decisions, decisions. earlee

Righto Earlee I wont bother talkin to the van park. Put my name on that last site of yours. send me a PM with your contact details and how much i owe ya. I will send you a cheque or do a direct deposit so that you can reclaim some of the deposit money you have laid out. I just wanted to make sure i have a reservation amongst the other Vint Van partyers ( us Redmans are use to living on reservations ... Ugg and how!!!) and somewhere to lay the EK and teardrop to rest once i get to kirra on the Friday. Normally head up to Valla Park around that time of year towing old bikes on a trailer. so another 5 hours aint gunna make a great deal of difference. especially if i take a few days either side of the longweekend to get there and back. Hmmm maybe i can bring one of the lightweight old clunker bikes up on Eddys back and use it for commuting around the functions at wintersun. Cant wait Reddo... from the Heckarwee peace loving tribe. TEARDROP. .....Did i say Teardrop..... it aint spose to be finished until 2010
