Thought about doing this van for a while. I have had it in the shed for about 3 years but more important things (read fibreglass vans ;D) got in the way Here are some shots taken when I picked up the van i6.photobucket.com/albums/y246/depetay/IMG_1365.jpg[/IMG]Looks pretty good from here....A little bit of work....only But the rear end can do with a bit more work All the cupboard doors are there and typically no fridge or stove. I will make a dinette for 2 where the stereo was that the young bloke had while he stayed in it

Had to make a jig so as to create some 'bent wood' for the bottom part of the frame....the blocks of wood are screwed to a 3/4" ply base. I will have to do this a couple of times as it looks like some more bent wood required for the rear frames too here are the bits of Tassie Oak timber used to make the frames.....and held in place with G clamps, and exterior grade Aquadhere. The plastic under it all is to stop me from gluing the frame to the base

Hey Humpty, I'm going to have to go the route of making bendy bits & I have a couple of questions if you don't mind? Did you cut the tassie oak strips yourself or buy the thin profile stuff from bunnings? What thickness? AND how did you join the new bendy bit to the old? Thanks, Jo

Atog, No, I haven't finished the Olympic yet but I have done some work that I will eventually get around to posting.........a change is as good as a holiday ;D ;D
BluetangJo, I bought the tassie oak strips from a timber yard, I will have to measure them and let you know.........re joining: I have just butt jointed them as they are not overly structural where the joint is. You could scarf joint them (45deg cuts and then jointed together) or use a step type joint. Someday when convenient, you would probably like to see my lantern roof Carlight Continental, it might give you some ideas.

Sure love that "spongewood", the more you find the more you look then before you know it you are doing a major rebuild, still, i't's wood and that's not too bad to work with. Only one thing worse than "spongewood" and thats that modern van stuff called "wheetbix" ( particle board, Just add water. ;D ;D)

You think fibreglass creates dust and other contamination.... After all the sanding, cutting, routing, filing and everything involving painting, fibreglass WINS hands down for less contaminents. The missus isn't happy with all the dust created in the shed from the WOODEN van. BUT I will be back into it this weekend ;D ;D ........what else would I do.

Stay tuned for more pictures over the next few nights.....have done a lot of work........ and today particularly in 37 deg C under a hot tin roof, I put the canvas covering on the roof (with the help of the missus). It took me 3 changes of soaking wet clothing to get the job done, but I am very happy with the finished result. I have changed my computer so the pictures aren't available as yet. Stand by...... ;D

Hi Humpty Doing great work there on your Castle. Could you post a photo of the folding step, if possible. Our Castle is missing its step but still has the sliding mechanism, so would be helpful to see a step.

I am having trouble getting my photos up.............and it's not photobucket The trouble is I'm trying to get my Canon Zoombrowser programme to operate on Windows 7 and it's just not happening yet. I was surprised how easy the job actually was, the photos will tell the story when they come up.

Hey Humpty,
Assuming the camera is a compatible unit for windows 7 and you're not trying to use the software that invariably comes with them, try this..
When connected and turned on, your PC should recognise the camera as a "hard/flash" drive. It will likely try and open the "what do want to do with this window". This can take up to 15 seconds or so to appear. Wait until it does, then cancel the window.
Then go to "My computer" and you should see the camera as an extra drive/file path along with the C:, D,E,F or G or whatever your other drives and CD unit etc are. If windows knows what the camera is, it'll say it's a Cannon something....
Just open the camera from this link and you'll be able to see all the photo's. The more photo's left on the camera, the slower it will bring them up, but you'll be able to move, delete, copy, save as etc from here.
My Canon camera is the same, but this way never fails me...
Cheers Chris

hi humpty we had the same (sort of) trouble with our cannon and pc. the pc would recognise that a device was connected but wouldn't recognise that it was a cannon bla bla bla and wouldn't upload the photos to photoshop/my pictures. i rang cannon and they said to try a usb on the back of the computer instead of the front usb. problem solved and now uploads ok. they said that the front usb's sometimes have a voltage drop across them that causes the problem? geoff

Hi Humpty,
One more suggestion: Just remove the SD memory card from your camera and put it in the SD card reader on your computer. That's what I always do. It avoids all problems of the camera software trying to "talk" to the computer.
If your computer doesn't have an SD reader, you can get small USB versions at most electronics stores.
Cheers, Papa Razzi
