Just an idea..............seeing as we are gunna have heaps of visitors and general public visiting us at Coledale this year.........what do you reckon about doing a little sign up about each of our vans for the masses to read ? I know this is a a bit of a personal preference thing ,.... and it's just one more item to lug around,.....but..... I know I really like to read about cars and things at shows, especially if the owner is away from their display. The info can be as simple or as elaborate as you like,... permanent or temporary,..as long as it gives a bit of background on the van and / or tow vehicle. Can be housed in a cheap $2 Shop frame or scratched out on a piece of tin or cardboard and thrown away at the end of the weekend ! Whaddayareckon ? Hi Collide I made a "sandwich board" up for Motorfest 2006. Most of the info was about the website and a brief description of the different types of vans.. Propert, sunliner, caraparks and of course bondwoods ;D. Also displayed photos from the first W.A run, Coledale 2005 and the SE QLD gathering at Fingal. I thought it would save me answering too many questions. Turns out i had to yap from 7.00am to 5.00pm about the FJ panelvan and Just Croozn. A board of some sort telling people who owns the van and a bit of history about the make ,model, year and the vans rescue and resto is a good thing. It may save a few thousand enquiries but i still make sure i dont snob anyone that wants to have a yarn about the van or tow car or maybe wants to stick thier head in the door and check things out ..... especially if they are of the female variety , good looking and carrying a bottle of intoxicating liqour... my kinda gal They could be potential new forum members/van owners and that has to be a good thing I will be taking the sandwich board as well as some enlarged copies of the photos that we got off the caretaker at Swansea van park last year on the tour and to Coledale. Once i get the annexe up on the TD i will set up a Display out the front so the locals can compare what vanning was like in the 30s,40s, 50s, and 60s and then have a look at our vans in comparison. It pays to advertise. Everytime we go somewhere we get a fresh round of enthusiastic new Chums signing up shortly afterwards. The more old vans on the road the better. Long winded way of saying "Yep Clyde i reckon the info board is a top idea" ;D Are you and Maurie still running the " T shirt and sticker stall??" Reddo

Hi Sutcac,
A info sign sounds like a good idea. As for lugging it around, I might just do up something small and get it laminated, then I can just bluetac it to the outside of the van (when it's parked up).
As for Reddo's comment about whether Sutcac and Maurie are still running the " T shirt and sticker stall??" - that's reminds me.
I haven't received a reply to my post re doing up signage and what prices to use. (See "What's wrong with the t-shirts. #18 on Sept 26th).
So can someone please confirm:-
A - If you want me to bring along a lockable money tin? B - If you want me to do up some signs? C - What prices you want me to put on the signage?
Only 7 more sleeps !!!!
Many thanks Diane

Hi All, Not many sleeps now ;D ;D ;D. The "East Coast Tourers" are on their merry way, lucky buggers, some of us have to work . I'm sure they'll all have a great time. Chippydave's daughter is in hospital at the moment & I hope she is OK real soon. All the sites have been juggled, shuffled,re sorted etc to fit everyone in. There will be a site list on Norm's door, Morrie will have one & so will we, we will be there Wednesday morning. If anyone wants to know their site number, ask here & I will reply. As most of you are aware there are only a few powered sites & these are re booked every year. A few people have said they are bringing generators & have agreed to not run them at night. See you all soon for a great weekend, let's hope we get some warm weather this year Jude & Geoff PS Don't forget your scary outfits!!!!

Hi Groovers and Goulds Well what can i say......10 east coast tour rigs rolled into Coledale around 11 ish on Thursday to be confronted by Coledale Beach bathed in beautiful sunshine..... Yup.... you 'eard me SUNSHINE . First time in three years that we have experienced a few days of near perfect weather. By mid arvo we had a few other celebs like humpty and cobber roll up. Geoff and Jude looked right at home as did MRFJ55 Maurie and the family who had been there doin it tough since monday. Friday was a mirror image of Thursday...... smiles all round ;D ;D It was that good that i managed a swim on Friday arvo. Me in my swimmin cossy is Not a good look but a crowd gathered to see me step my way through a mindfield of Thursdays blue bottle stingers and plunge headlong into a beautiful surf. Gobber.... ooops Cobber reckons i was only showing off for the 2 good lookin sorts that dropped thier tops off and started sunbaking while i was taking a dip ..... The view was better from out in the surf than what it was back under the norfolk pines Cob ;D I was a bit concerned about the set up the surf life saving club had ready to come and rescue me I think Mauries daughter and the jack russell might have had trouble dragging the life boat through the sand with a tricycle and a vintage pedal car teardrop Meanwhile back in the carpark Sutcac had set up stickers and t shirt sales and managed to crack onto a good lookin chicky babe wearing a V.V t shirt I managed to save her from being molested by a canetoad in the back of the old Panelvan . heres a coupla shots of the main drag. I tok a heap of pix but some goose forgot to turn the camera on aye Why we even got a visit from that well know catoon character..... "Marvin the Martian" This thing is just wwwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyy cccooooooooooollll and is gunna be a real head spinner when shes all decked out and polished up. Back up the southern end omn saturday arvo and clyde and the hoons had to be chipped about "EH Racing " in the carpark This is a game for all ages and Clyde, Maurie and few others kept a stack of kids amused all arvo. Three legged races, egg and spoon, water bombs......a few of the "Big Kids" copped a bit of a drenching too. Its was a holiday that the kids will long remember . Speakin of EHs this one got washed up on the beach but Sutcac had already claimed it A really nice prem Clyde and Barb ;D and here is a scene that was repeated at least 100 times in 100 locations amongst the 41 vans. That great old Aussie tradition As they say... "Every hour of every day... Its happy hour somewhere around the world. In this case it fell on Wayne and Shazzas van. The fancy dress party upstairs in the surf club was a real hoot with everyone getting into the spirit of the party. ( if ya look closely at Kingys picture of the gould covered in spider webs wearing the norton jumper giving the cameraman "The bird" ya might just pick the rsemblence between him and R ::)O ;D After a week of touring and partying my plumbing wasnt gunna let me fit one more stubby in so i headed off to bed. A few car loads of us shot down to Albion Park on sunday morning for a look around the swap meet. It wasnt until we said our goodbyes to the Kaybees that i realised that this big adventure was coming to a close. I was dcetermined to stay on for just one more night but around 10am sunday i met my new neighbours on site 12. The old bloke complained that the panelvans left headlight was protruding onto his site. That was the last straw. i packed up... down the rounds of the last of the happy campers and left for home at 11.45. i pulled into the drive at 3.00pm . speedo showing just over 600 easy miles for the last 8 days. Managed to keep the car and TD in one piece. Thank yous go to....... Geoff & Jude, Lynelle for organising the sites and the catering. Cylde, Barb, Di, HD Todd, Jarrod, Daniel Ticko and Cobber for helping run the merchandise stand on saturday and sunday. We had around $800 in the tin by late saturday and i reckon it would have made near $1000 by sunday knock off time. A big thanks to the 10 happy east coast tour crews for having faith in my half baked efforts to provide a good tour and places to stay and see. Thanks also to everyone at Coledale that shoved a stubby in my hand over the weekend.... "The liver is evil and must be punished" Another big thanks to the Kingys for the great lunch on Monday . Very much appreciated by all i am sure. The surf club for letting us run amuck on saturday night in the club........ If anyone is up there sometime in the future could they collect my "Fake Ear" from on top of the ceiling fan near the stage. I was showing the kids how to throw things through the blades and send them into orbit... but the ear stuck to the blades ;D... Shame i was just becoming attached to it. And finally..... Thanks to Mark and Jenny for making an unexpected guest appearance at Coledale . What a buzz that was. Better check your luggage . Cobber may have got tangled up in there somewhere. He was like the royal gaurd with those two all weekend. ;D Sympathy goes to Chippy Dave for the hard luck with his daughter right on tour time. I know how keen he was to get away with us ...... but as he has already said. Family first. Get well soon little Chippette. A get well soon also goes to Yvonne ( Cobberette) who has also just got out of hospital. Next year will be bigger and better for sure ....50 vans plus Coledale 2008....... You Betcha Sweet Bippy ;D Reddo
