Hello my name is Brett. I don't own a van (yet) but i do own a restored fj ute. I have been thinking about getting a small van for the ute for some time now and as i live on the north side of brisbane this would be a good chance to come and meet you guys, check out your vans, cars and get some tips. Hi I am still planning on coming up on Saturday just for the day. What would be the best time and place to meet up with you all? Looking forward to meeting you on Saturday. Brett

G ' DAY QUEENSLANDERS , CONGRATULATIONS ON A GOOD TURN UP FOR YOUR V V RALLIE . I NOTICED A COUPLE OF FX / FJ HOLDENS IN YOUR RANKS , THAT WOULD HAVE DEFINATLY LIFTED THE STANDARD OF VEHICLES THAT WERE PRESENT ! I ALSO NOTICED A COUPLE OF WELL SEASONED TRAVELLERS IN EARLEE , JBJ AND WILL & LYN IN YOUR GROUP . THESE GUYS ARE JUST AMAZING WHERE THEY TURN UP ! I THINK THEY ALL DESERVE A MEDAL FOR THERE DEDICATION TO OUR HOBBY OF VINTAGE CARAVANING . THREE CHEERS TO THEM I SAY ! AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING UP WITH THEM AGAIN SOON . Hi All, Well another great weekend Vintage Van weekend has come to a close. We got going around 8.30 Friday, & drove up in beautiful weather. Got there just after lunch, a nice 4 hour cruise. First van we spotted was David & Lynnes early 50’s homebuilt 16 footer, that they bought a year or so back from the elderly daughters of the builder. It had been continuously registered as they couldn’t get to the number plate in the shed it was stored, so they kept paying yearly rego fees. Its beautiful inside, so hopefully someone will post some interior shots soon. David & Lynn don’t use the computer, so they aren’t Forum members, they just turn up when someone tells them something is happening. Walked around the corner, & spotted the longest distance traveling combo on the Forum. Will & Lynn have made at least 3 trips from WA to this side of Aussie in the last 12 months. The park was great. We headed for the pool, & watched the arrivals. Earlee turned up ( fairly early for him,) , then Dosse rocked in with his van & FC ute Santa 28A brought his van behind the family hack Jan & Naum brought their aluminium sheeted ply van, which is probably older than it looks Then this beautiful black FJ towing a black & white Sunliner turned, & we met Pete &Trish, with daughter Bonnie. The vans named Pearl, & really is one. They’re Bribie Island locals, & Petes just finished a major rebuild of the van he bought recently. It looks great, & the FJ’s not too sad either. Suzann, Matt & Kayeeshia turned up on dark, with their Valiant & teardrop. So by Saturday morning everyone that was expected had arrived, except Sutcac. We found out later when he turned up alone that the poor old Premier had expired the week before, & his new EJ van was still in the trimmers. We had a visit from Brett & Kylie in their restored FJ ute. Got lots of interest, & its well done. A special occasion on Saturday was the inaugural meeting of the Travelling Garden Gnome Association, with president Will, his apprentice in traing Matt, & official mascot Kayeeshia Arent they a beautiful lot these Gnomes. You wouldn't believe that 12' in height could be shared so badly. All too soon time to go on Sunday morning, so Pete & trish took us on a guided tour of Bribie, with all the vans in convoy. All in all a great run, with lots of new friends made. Our next SQ get together is at Kirra Beach over the Queens Birthday weekend for Wintersun, so see you all then. Jailbarjuice & Boots

Happy to see Earlee cruising & just relaxing, Will up to his usual crazy capers & Clyde, as always smiling. There sure were some great rigs there and the cruise around the island must have attracted lots of attention - way to go guys Can't wait for our next outing , photos like this just make me want to go go go Jude & Geoff

Thanks for sharing the photos of your get together Jan & Naum and Jailbar. It was great to see so many wonderful V V's together. Your neighbours in the caravan park must have wondered if they'd hit a time warp, but I bet you got lots of interested onlookers!
Looking through the pictures it was fun to identify the various rigs we've seen in members photos, etc.

Hi JBJ and others. Great pictures Dennis. I always start out with good intentions of capturing shots of everyones van and car at these sort of gatherings but managed to get side tracked everytime. You have done a really good job of getting shots of everyones vans set up and good clear shots of the cars without crowds around them. Getting a story together and then swapping photos over from photobucket always takes time and we have learnt not to start screaming for pictures of Vint van events on the night that everyone gets home frrom the run. All takes time and effort to string it all together and we appreciate it when the shots and story finally hits the big screen. thanks mate. Sounds like everyone had a great time , in a great part of the world. Good to see old mate turn up with the 16 footer that was at Esk last year. Did he say how the Humber handled towing the van. I have been given 2 humber super snipes. Dunno what year models yet or what condition they are in??. will know more when they get delivered onto my front lawn sometime in the next month or so. Bad news about sutcacs premier. It picked the wrong time to shite itself eh!!! The picture of Matt and the W.A gnome is a scarey sight. Never know when ya gunna find a Gnome on ya lawn. Trish and I hosted the same gnome and Lynn last night at our place. We couldnt leave him on the front lawn for the dogs to pee on so we invited him in for a baked dinner. After tea we knocked down half a carton. They sparked up thier laptop and showed us thier happy snaps of the weekend at bribie. great stuff . even showed us a few "Ugly never to be published shots" as well I left for work about 6.30 this morning and they where just getting organised for a days run out to Cobar. Finally starting to head west. We wish you a safe trip back to Perth will and lynn. And as the dust settles on Bribie we focus on Munmorah in May and then 3 weeks later a big week at Wintersun - kirra. Us southerners are relying on you lot up north to organise some fine weather. We have copped wild thunderstorms and heavy rain every arvo for a week here in Newcastle. Vint van appetite has been wetted again....See yas all soon... cant wait, cant wait, cant wait. Reddo

Hi Everyone, I just thought I would post a note to say thanks for Saturday afternoon. I suppose it could have been a little bit awkward turning up almost unannounced and not knowing anyone but you made us both feel very welcome. All the vans and the cars looked fantastic especially in the Sunday line up photos, I wish we could have been there then. It was best summed up by Kylie, as we were leaving the park she said, I wished we were staying. I should be at Wintersun on the Sunday of the long weekend and hopefully be able to drop into the Kirra Caravan Park to meet up again. Thanks Brett

We have only just heard about the run to Bribie and we missed out. Looks like I should log on more often! "The Mustang" is taking over our place and poor Alice has been left home the last two times we have gone caravanning. The Mustang ( built 1980) has more room, a fridge, television etc etc but we still love Alice! Oh well we may make the next outing! Cheers Kathryn and Paul
