Hi, We are very new to all this vintage van stuff and would love to come to this weekend - if we fit in - we have just bought a 65-68 Roadmaster to tow behind a 55 Ford Victoria and are very keen to learn more and join in what seems like a lot of fun. We would need a powered site and would arrive Friday. We were going to go bondwood but don't have a covered are which is disappointing but we love our old girl and look forward to making her beautiful again thnaks Geoff & Jude

Hi jeff and Jude
What do you mean" we hope we fit in" of course you will. Its the rest of us that are the misfits.
Look forward to catching you at Munmorah. Its not a big area and not as flash as most caravan parks but with at least a dozen vans to poke and prod , a few classic cars to ogle and a esky full of beer to demolish i cant see us getting bored. I will be there around lunch time friday. I have a roster day off owing to me on that day.
Hope to see you there... and Oh bye the way. Welcome to the site. How about a few pix of your car and van.
Cheers reddo

We are going too, we had good fun at Coledale hope to arrive Friday & leave Sunday, from what I have read from Tickos & Reddo would these directions suit for people coming from points south up the F3
Koala Park, Munmorah power station, scenic drive, San Remo
Sydney drivers would take the "East lake Macquarie tourist drive exit" ...look for the big brown sign.
Exit left up the ramp and head towards Swansea on the old pacific hwy.
Take the second exit off to the right which is scenic drive (leads into San Remo and on towards Budgewoi.)
On Scenic Drive you will see a White stone wall with "DELTA" Munmorah power Station" written on it
Turn left at this, about 50 meters in, there is small road off to the right with an open area and building and a narrow gate, go through the gate into Koala Park.

Hi Gary
There is a couple of minor roads off the old pacific hwy go past Tooheys rd ( Us Newcastleites no how to name roads dont we) keep headin past the Blue Haven turn off . The first major set of traffic lights are at Doyalson. Turn right here onto Scenic Drive. about 2 klicks down you will see an entrance on the left with white brick walls either side of it.... dont turn in there. !!! The entrance you are looking for is about 100 yards further on and Has " DELTA Munmorah Power Station" on the white brick walls. As soon as you get through the entry there is a turn off to the right . swing in there and drive around the right side of the ammenities building.
Will have a coldy waitin' for ya.

Reddo, Thanks for the reply - we can also be misfits on the "odd ocassion" so should fit in well. We won't be able to bring the Vicky as she doesn't have a tow bar yet, so will slum it in the ute. We should be there by lunch time all going well. It will just be a matter of deciding who will take the longest to get ready me or the other old girl - we both need a lot of spack filler & paint to make us presentable Jude

Hi Reddo
Were you the bloke that called into Koala Park the other day asking about dumping some firewood there. The nephew isn't real sharp at passing on messages correctly. No problem if you could give John (Lyn's brother) the caretaker a call 4390 7625. he would like to advise where to dump it!!!! I have already picked my site!!!! Ticko

Hi tickos Good to hear from you's. I called in and asked if it is gunna be Ok to light a "Controlled furnace" in one of Johns 44 gall drums. The young bloke said that its OK and dad doesnt mind a few beers around the fire himself I mentioned bringing a barrow load of wood in the Ute on the day we turn up. Wasnt planning on bringing a truck load as there seems to be plenty within walking distance. If each van coming can can spare a bag or a bit of of wood .. bring it with ya . No smart arse remarks about burning bondwoods here please folks. I have picked a site as well. .... My advise to everyone is bring a few packing blocks of wood to make sure your bed is level .Although the sites are flat you may have to level up side to side to counter the gradual slope of some sites. Cheers reddo

Hi to everyone - we're the new kids. We hail from Port Stephens, up past Newcastle, and are the proud owners of a little 1949 teardrop called the "Honeymoona" which we bought from a lovely couple in Victoria about 18 months ago. We noticed that you were having a run to Munmorah, and seeing as it's just down the road we wondered if we could drop in and say hello - the old girl never gets a chance to talk to anyone her own age! We thought that we might make it down after the kids footy on Saturday afternoon and stay the Saturday night, if thats ok. Look forward to meeting everyone, Clare And Doddy

Hi Tickos and Co. Have talked Trish into stayin at least one night. I have sorted the pick up of the landcruiser out. Dropped it at a transport depot. Its going to Melbourne on a transporter friday arvo. However i have struck another snag. i bought another EK ute on the weekend. Its in a million bits with no cab floor. I bought it home on Monday and sorted through it. I have to go back sometime friday to collect the glass, seat and a few other odds and ends. Might stick a coupla pix on members tow cars later. He flys out to katherine NT on saturday and wont be back for 2 months so i wanna get the bits out of his yard before they "walk away". Still aiming at being there friday arvo. Planning goin' on all the time. Currently raining here. Dont bring blanket, hot water bottle, etc .....Bring raincoat and gumboots. Go to hear from you Maurie. Coming on your own??? Not bringing the" trouble and strife" or " the billy lids" ? Has anyone heard from Belinda? ? Reddohwhatafeeling

Hi All, Sadly we won't be able to join you guys after all this weekend - very old sick dog in need of TLC. We will still call in to say hello and meet everyone as we have to go to Newcastle to pick up a stove for the van . Will aim to get there about 9.30am so as not to hold up the "Lunch Run" Geoff & Jude

Hi Geoff and Jude. Bring the sick dog. I have 1/2 gallon of a legendary north coast home brewed miracal drink called "Jailbar Juice" . Has been known to make the blind see again and vice versa. The walking become legless, the intelligent become blithering fools and so on............. If ya arrive about 9.30 am you will be just in time to see alot of other "Sick Puppies" coming out of thier vans.... Look forward to meeting you locals. Hi Everyone Just finished unpacking and cleaning up the van after another successfull weekend away with the east coast vintage vanners at Munmorah. 6 ... or was it 7 fibreglass sunliners and olympics . most of these from the Hunter Antique Touring Society. Including our very own Humpty and Mrs Humpty as well as Spyder and his better half. The Bondy brigade set up camp across the road from thje plastic vans. Belinda and Rob and kids( with new annexe fitted and being towed by that fabulous Citroen) . Me and Trish, Gary ( Carapark) and Mrs, Mr FJ 55 Maurie. A couple from Smiths lakes in his dads old bondy9'6 what a great old van... and still in the family after all these years , The Tickos and young Daniel ( The Volvo driver) and the icing on the cake arrived just before dark on saturday night . A dead stock original; Teardrop from up Port stephens way. "Hooneymoona" the couple had thier 4 kids with them and it was a full house in the teardrop as well as thier dome tent. Photos to come later. This little van won my award for van of the meet. Probably cause it was running motorbike mudgaurds . The Mitsubishi L300 tow car was painted like rubicks cube. So all up about 14 vans. 5 cars went for a saturday arvo cruise into Swansea RSL for lunch. A beautiful spot right on the edge of the channel that emptys Lake Macquarie into the ocean. A great feed and then we headed back to the old mining town of Catherine Hill Bay . Caught up with Maurie in the FJ Ute at the pub, enjoyed a cool beer overlooking the surf from the old pub , then back to camp about 4. Two great nights around the campfire , Beers, Cheers and entertainment from Humptys 4 legged piranha maltese terrier trying to swallow the caretakers border collie. Funny sight with humpty holding the dog out at arms lentgh while it kicked and wriggled dangling in its killer dog harness. Just about then the mobile rang so Humps didnt miss a beat just left the dog dangling snarlin and snappin in his right hand and casualy placed the phone against his ear and carried on a conversation as if nothing was happening. I managed to stir the fibreglass owners up with my traditional bagging of all vans not made of wood. At one stage we looked like having to evacuate the park as i had discovered a strange white substance........ turned out to be Fibreglass ;D I still reckon that they have asbestos in them and they should be condemned. Anyway folks i will sign off an let a few others have thier say. A truely great weekend with great people. Definitley another "Must attend" to circle on 2007 calander. Thanks for suggesting Munmorah .....John, Lynelle and Daniel. Cheers all Reddo

The Honeymoona sends her love to all! We had a great time meeting everyone and puting faces to the names. It couldn't have been a friendlier introduction to the world of vintage caravans. We can't wait for Coledale now! See you there. Clare & Doddy & the kids

Hi All, it was great to meet everyone - if only briefly and to be able to look at all the great vans. We look forward to Coledale. After we left we picked up our stove at New Lambton Heights and while chatting to the guy we bought it from we were told about three old wooden vans at Nundle - near Tamworth. They are in a shed and are apparently full of saddles etc. John didn't know any more as the old guy who owns them just pulled up one day when he was out the front working on his van. He expressed interest in getting rid of them, but didn't know what they were worth. That's all the info John had as he didn't know the VV club existed, but I had a look at a map & Nundle is a very small place, so if anyone was interested a few questions around town would probably unearth them. See you all at Coledale, again thanks for making feel welcome Geoff & Jude

Hi Geoff and Jude
i was at the Newcastle Surfest Car show last year with the EH premier wagon and Our old van "Just Cruisin". a couple came up to me and told me of a wooden van near Nundle. Lead light windows , wooden draw bar etc. They gave me a contact phone number. I lost the piece of paper for a while. when i finally found it and contacted the owners they stated that someone from down around Cessnock way had spotted it and bought it. Nundle is about 40 miles south east of Tamworth. Great little town with a nice caravan park...... hmmmm might be a good venue for a V V northwest get together.
Sorry for getting off the Munmmorah thread just a little here people but i thought it would be easier to just reply to Geoff and Judes info without starting a whole new thread.
Happy Hunting G & J
Reddo & Co
Happy Hunting.
