Hi Jg33,
The van may have Torana rims, but according to the info provided by Roehm3108 in 2005 when he first sighted the van, it was built in the mid-60's.

Good to see this van is still around and in original condition. Coincidentally, I spent 5 days in this great caravan park right on the Burrum River two weeks ago, where I spotted this van in 2005. ;D ;D

Hi Jg33,
Yes, you're right about the design of the Roadcruiser. But then I think that almost all, if not all, of the fibreglass caravan manufacturers in the 60's produced designs which were a bit ahead of the times compared to the bondwood/aluminium brigade - think of Sunliner, Kennedy/Franklin and Olympic. Even more so, think of the Murrumba Star which I still find hard to believe was produced in the 60's. To me it looks futuristic even today. I guess the reason for the designs which pushed the envelope was that fibreglass allowed the builders to create shapes and structures which couldn't be done with wood and aluminium.
And the round object - yep, foot pump for the water.
(And don't feel there are any silly questions - we only learn from each other by asking questions.)

nice to see one in original condition after all the mystery about them ......speaking of which how is yours going humpyboy? Only just saw this reply last night Jeff, not a lot happening with mine at the moment, I'm still catching up with all the work that got left behind after my accident, I did however have a visit with Case yesterday and picked up some flooring so it's not languishing in the never never, I still haven't decided on just when I will start but I will one day and rest assured there will be lots of pictures P.S. The reason I didn't see this post is because I don't get my notifications from the site when new ones are posted, dambed if I know why they don't come through but they don't, that is why I visit the site every day just to see what's going on.

A couple of years ago I picked up a little fibreglass van (12 to 13 foot) that needed a complete rebuild. I was told it was the prototype and that it never went into production making mine the only one. Last week I was flipping quickly through the latest VCM mag and saw Richards article on restoration tips and couldn't believe that I was looking at the same van. With the help of my farther, brother , sister and others I have been slowly and quietly chipping away at the restoration . Custom coaches were connected but didn't build caravans. I hope to find out more in the future. Last week our computer packed it in so I'm not yet able to put out any pictures but hope to soon, but I can tell you the layout is similar to the van in Don Richardo's post at the top of this page ,only the condition was more like HumpyBoy's. Looking at your van the bigger size would be good for camping ,but after spending the day on the sander today I'm glad it's not.

Hi All Noticed one of the posts above refers to no. plate RP-1738. My Olympic 'Contessa'has no. plate RP-1725 a late 1968 model, so does that make this van a 1968 model also- . Cheers boblor

And still nothing has changed from all those years ago, it still sits upon my drive waiting for me to start, it is just a matter of time which I currently have very little of.
