To all those going to Coledale -
Have a great couple of days checking out the vans, putting faces to names, partaking in JBJ and generally having a good time.

HIDDY - HO THERE GOOD NEIGHBOURS , I knew we would have a top weekend , and we certainly did . Many colourful characters from all walks of life , with many interesting stories to tell . Thank you all for your company and friendship . Also thank you to John ,Reddo and Lynelle for running Kate and the kiddlets around over the weekend in your HJ , FB , FC Holdens , they loved it . One of the highlights for me was the cars , in particular the H O L D E N S . Between us we had 7 of the first 9 models , each one a winner and a credit to there owners . ( Only the EK and EJ were missing ) . Hopefully next year we can fill these gaps , oh yer , with vintage vans in tow as well . I would also like to see some other combo's turn up , such as VW's , Light trucks , Hot Rods , Vintage camper vans ,old "Splitty" VW Kombi's , a few teardrops and any other curious "MOBILE SPLINTER HOMES ON RUBBER PEIRS". ;D . The other highlight for me was that my wife was enjoying herself making new friends and plans to get a "STRIPEY ANNEX " for "OUR" van , ready for next time ! (COOOL) Thanks must also go to Norm , our caretaker , Coledale Surf Club for the use of this area , and the locals for having us and making us feel welcome . REGARDS MAURIE . " KEEP HOLDEN ON " p.s Only low point was REDDO'S FUNERAL ! (you had to be there) . p.p.s THANKS for the BIRTHDAY cake guys and that sterling rendition of HAPPY BIRTHDAY around the campfire ! Cheers Bigears !

Crikey Reddo, Did you climb up a telegraph pole to get that shot of the south half of the park looking north? Here is a shot of the north half of the park looking north. L to R, Belinda & Rob--Cobber--Mr. & Mrs. Magrin--Humpty2 . The beach is as far behind me as the Vans are in front of me, it is a top spot. And how’s this for a dolly wheel? It’s on Murray & Robyn’s ‘51 Van towed by the “T” Model. I have got individual photos of each of the Vans but I don’t know if you want to see all that, do you? Cobber

That is a little ripper Todd, I heard about the excitement but didn’t see it. My next contribution is of the front of reddo’s Van. He invited people to write a little message on it, I'm not sure he thought it was such a great idea next morning. Cobber.

Who the hell is Mrs Magruin? Finally all was revealed. Wayne and Sharon from the central coast had to pull the big ford over halfway down Bulli Pass. Apparently the brakes where starting to cremate themselves. A great couple who really enjoyed the weekend. Got right into the spirit of things and dressed in 60s rock nroll gear. Great stuff. Check out the huge mirrors they have 100 watt driving lights mounted in the front of them. Hard top retracts into the boot. The reporter from the Sydney Morning Herald would have to be the luckiest report around . he got to cruise in the back down through the gong and back to Scarborough pub for lunch. I don’t care how cool it looks its still a F#@d !!!

Hi everyone! Yes! It's the elusive Mrs M(Wayne & Sharon) Sorry to disappoint you all- we didnt have a daughter or a Winnebago or a DVD and a telly, or come from Villawood! Finally made it to the site! How long has this been going on? You guys have been having too much fun-and we love it! Spent about 3 hours reading all the messages, and how good is that Retro's rebuild? We stopped halfway down Bulli Pass, after the brakes started to fade(and smoke!). Two tonne of Detroit steel + three quarters of a tonne of Maitland caravan + half a tonne of wife's luggage isnt a good recipe for stopping! So we pulled over, I hopped out to check under the seats to make sure that Sharon hadnt been collecting rocks on our way down(ala Lucy in The Long, Long Trailer). After about 10 minutes a nice looking FJ pulled up towing a caravan. It was Cobber & Yvonne. After introductions, we proceeded down Bulli Pass. The Caravan Park was the perfect location-no flash resort pools, no modern vans, no arcade type games rooms. The fun you have here will be all self made. And it was, from sitting around the campfire and telling stories (some of those stories getting taller with the influence of JBJ-of which I was lucky enough to become the proud recipient of my very own bottle-thanks JB!) to the simple act of cooking a BBQ under the pine trees overloooking the ocean. And what a nice gesture of Reddo to take the time to make those caravan momentos-mine will be permanently in the caravan for all to see and remind us of the first ever Coledale weekend and all the great people we met. Youll be pleased to know the old Ford made it up Bulli Pass no problem-in second gear! Wayne & Sharon PS How do you make this page not as wide?
