Hi, just got back from a run with the WA vintage caravanners and the FE/FC club at Guilderton, just north of Perth. There were 7 vans, 2 of which were teardrops.....some others will have pics to add I'm sure. We took up a complete row of the caravan park, caravanners and tenters...... looking one way... looking the other way.... it all began on Friday afternoon....and lasted till after we left Sun morning.....nice relaxing place, little river estuary and nice ocean beach. Plenty to eat & to drink, lotsa laughs, even a birthday cake..... cheers.....Brad

Hi carrots even my email is coming in with the X factor and crapbucket is soooooo sloooowwww like ten minutes to capture a picture so i have sent some photos to Ditz and she is going to post them however after spending an hour getting them on I previewed them and they previewed perfectly when I posted them they became X rated so now im happy but tired See you later hoping to see youse guys if the new harvey run comes off Will G’day Will It seems most of your photo bucket links aren’t pointing to active pictures. Carrots may be right and either the pictures aren't in there or the link details are incorrect. The only one that is showing is one of a group around the Rodger’s homemade teardrop camper. Also, it seems the reason it’s taking you so long to load pictures to photo bucket is your loading them as they are saved off the camera (a Kodak DX7440?) and the file size is quite large. A very good trick is to use Photoshop and the ‘Save for Web’ feature that’s part of it. If you haven't got Photoshop software, it can be expensive but there are significant discount copies available (read huge) if you hunt around. You can set the compression quality to ‘low’ and easily control the size of the picture that will post up as well. The 'Save for Web' feature reduces the picture to about 20 to 25% of the original file size if you keep the picture size the same. Reduce the picture size and the file size drops even more. With these settings there’s no noticeable drop in picture quality when viewed on a computer monitor and the big bonus is the pictures will load to photo bucket in about 10 to 15 seconds (as I’ve found using a 56k dialup that runs slow most of the time) The pictures also load quicker in the thread of course, another bonus. Using this part of Photoshop is really easy once you’ve had a little practice.. And don’t say you’re too old to learn mate.. I’ve got a few years on you and it didn’t take long to work out how to do it, or it’s easy to talk though on the phone if that helps. To give you an idea how it works.. Below are three copies of the same teardrop picture set in different modes (The original picture is about 148.0 k file size) 1.. The first is the same picture just ‘Saved for Web’ and the original size of 576 x 432 pixels.. 34.0 k file size 2.. The second is slightly reduced size .. 400 x 300 pixels.. 18.5 k file size 3.. The third is reduced again .. 250 x 188 pixels.. 10.0 k file size Or you can make the pictures larger of course, the choice is yours. To copy the original, reset all three, and load to photo bucket took about 5 minutes. None of the three images took more than 15 seconds to load into photobucket. It really is easy Will.. It only takes a few minutes to understand it. Give it some consideration and you’ll be far less frustrated with the system. Jim By the way, does that teardrop have two doors? the one showing seems to be on the American side.. Number 1.. 576 x 432 Number 2.. 400 x 300 Number 3.. 250 x 188

Hi retro .. we had a great time, each run is getting better and more diverse. The interest and in particular the input from the public was just tremendous. A member from the Sandgroper caravan group ( new trucks and new vans )approached me with info on an old late fifties van he new about and gave me the name and adress of the owner. The president of the FE FC club of W.A is just about converted to owning a Vintage van so we rang the owner and we may be able to pick up the van for around $300 dollars, apparently it is in great condition internally and with a paint externally and a bit of luck Gary may be the proud owner of a 50 s vintage van soon. The owner will ring me on wednesday if her grandson doesnt want the van. I had a lead on a 58 Roma Fibreglass Similiar to the Olympic vans, it was just sold about a month ago, so the site is creating interest from all quarters with people just wanting to see the old vans maintained and kept for later generations. Welcome to Dean and Karen, Potsy and his wife Jo, and Roger and partner on their first run .. just great people with the same interest having good clean fun. What better than vintage vans old cars great people and sun surf and a Quiet beer to boot almost sounds to good to be true Will and Lyn Missed out surfer boy sorry!!! I will scrub out the surf bit

Mark & Ditzy, have any plans been made for Guilderton 2006 ? It was brought up at Tuesdays car club meeting. I will need to make space in the diary to make sure Cathy and i can make it.

surferboy, there are no plans for the vintage vanners to attend Guilderton this year, the arrangements are too late to be made.
However, if any forum members wish to make their own arrangements to attend Guilderton with the FE FC Holden club, I'm sure they will be most welcome by the club,
Cheers
Ditzy

nobody was going to Guilderton, so Cathy and I decided to go to York instead. Nice caravan park for a run . Its nice and clean, nice facilities, big wide compact gravel sites, and they are all DRIVE THROUGH bays. the only negative(but not for tea totallers like me)..its too far to walk to the pub Managed to pick up an original 1956 RAC Road Patrol newspaper and what I thought might be a 1950s Perth street mapbook,( but seems to be late 40s) Found a couple of old caravans , so will head back there soon to check them out.
