Hi all fellow vintage vanners, this is Hillbilly who hasn’t posted anything for quite some time. I’m now living in Kununurra WA and work on the Quarantine station at the WA/NT border where I get to see heaps and heaps of caravans of all shapes and sizes. So if your coming across the border on an around Australia epic in your vintage van or just cruising, don’t forget to say hi to me (Ian). I’m hoping to get to Perth in early March and join the throng of WA VV’s for the trip east to Mount Gambier in my 1958 Modern caravan, then head back up the centre to Kununurra to finish off. When living up here in paradise (whoops, and the heat ) you get to see a real mix of vans old and new, hence these photo’s of how far some people will go, I reckon they might as well bring their house with them……..I cant believe some of the 5th wheelers of today…….I know what I prefer, such as this 1978 Franklin with the mega airconditioner on the roof, and much earlier models of caravans, they have character, as we all know. And towed by this, a truck, can you believe it……… Anyway guys, those of you who are lucky enough, ENJOY COLEDALE, and hope its not too COLD DALE…….. Cheers all, Hillbilly in “Paradise” ;D ;D ;D

Gday Hillbilly, Woah! That Franklin looks only about 12 foot with that big thing on the roof. Are you sure it's a caravan and not just a cool room (read: esky) for that monsta fifth wheeler? ;D ;D
Cheers,
Gristy
PS I know it's hot up there, but even then I reckon that AC would hafta be overkill.

Thanks for the comments Mark, I dont know about the size of Elvis's you know what though, i just think he likes things BIG . Yes, I did see the post on the 1958 Modern Caravans and the photos are excellent, a pity they dont make em like that anymore. Now its a case of "plasticated" rigs, and who's got the "biggest dish" out the front. Cheers, Hillbilly ;D
