Hi,
Just a short introductory note..had a smooth trip bringing home the Olympic Riviera from NSW to Melbourne where it now sits diagonally across my front yard due to some misguided gardening potholes. Looks like I'll have to invest in some wheelies or electric tug to preserve some dignity!
I really admire Sunliners..but with three tag-a-longs my best option was the four berth 16' Riviera. Never having towed before I have to report a great, if a little slow journey back home. The roads generally let me chug along on the left.. I don't own a classic car, but my Ford wagon felt a bit arthritic up those Southern Tableland hills!
I began by unconsciously gripping the steering wheel very tightly in order to stop any sway or shudder, but the fibreglass beauty was light and obedient, not that I can compare it to anything but my box trailer..traffic kindly whooshed past me..and when I was on the single lane highway from Albury I pulled over for some of the trucks as I was certain that admiring my rear view was not on their agenda! (mind you the single brake light worried one driver who reported the 'fault' to the chap on the gate at the Army museum at Bandianna!).
Living inside the van was easy and we soon got our sea legs..I'd forgotten that vans have a gravity all their own..
Thanks for listening..I've well and truly been bitten by the vintage van bug..and even though I believe mine just scrapes in..I think there is an awful chance of more than one van joining the menagerie..Cheers from the 'lass!
