G'day members , I have just received the invitation to “MOTORFEST 2009” There is a glitch with the “Online registration” process so I rang John Fowler to see if they were aware of the problem. I mentioned I was with the “Vintage Caravan” group and he was very enthusiastic to see a good representation of vintage caravans there next year. If you have been there before you will get an invitation for 2009. If you haven't been to “Motorfest before, but would like to attend in 2009, you will be able to register via the online facility when they fix the glitch, it's @ mynrma.com.au/motorfest This event is a really good venue for promoting the Vintage Caravan hobby..... be in it . Cobber.

The online registration facility for Motorfest 2009 is now up and running.
mynrma.com.au/motorfest
Where it asks for the name of the club you belong to I suggest you write "vintage caravans.com" and then tick the box that asks if you want to display with your club.
I would encourage anybody in the Sydney area.... or anybody who doesn't mind traveling to Sydney, to take part in "Motorfest". The Vintage Caravans always attract a lot of attention and it is a great way to promote the hobby.
Cobber.

G'day folks, If anybody has registered for Motorfest 2009 would you mind letting us know you have done so via this thread, because it would appear there is not much interest in the event this year . It is without doubt one of the best ways of showing the general public that there is an interest in restoring old caravans..... and that the one they have sitting down the back yard is worth saving. Each year at Motorfest at least one of the vintage van crew gets a lead on a 'van worth restoring. Cobber.

Hi Guys and Gals Ticko's have registered. I am wondering if Melanco is turning up with the krispy Creams? ?? I am sure someone will put her up for the time just to have the donuts!!!!!! We are quite willing to give up the early morning spot under the trees!!!!!!! Or hopefully the Cockatoos will PICK on another tree next year!!!!! Looking forward to great day. If we end up with other new people who would like to attend and we don't have enough spots or our group we are willing to allow someone new to ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!!!!! Ticko's

Thanks for moving the thread to the right place Don R. Tickos.... what's that, five of us so far, and they have fitted ten in previously so I don't think anybody has to give up their spot yet. There's room for more.... come join the fun.... it's a top day (just ask Yvonne, she does most of the work while I have fun ) Cobber.

I am giving this thread a bump to see if any others have registered for Motorfest .. Last count was 5 .. It would be a shame to see us relinquish the ten spots we have been allocated by the Motorfest over the past 4 years . If they see only 5 entrys this year from us they will quickly allocate that extra space to some other motoring interest group.. ( note i didnt say club) . Once we give up that space it will be bloody hard to win it back in future years. I drove away last year saying "it has become a bit ho-hum for me now. i wont attend in 2009. There is plenty of new starters on the forum that will be more than happy to jump in and wave the vintage van banner". It appears that hasnt happened.....That is partly the reason i weakened and submitted an entry this year. I didnt/dont want to see us gradually wither and die out of this great event. As Cobber says , it is a great opportunity to showcase our vans and it is definitely a breath of fresh air to see the vans amongst a sea of cars... We should be getting confirmation of acceptance ( or in my case rejection) soon. So anyone we dont know about attending Reddo

G'day Tammy,
Those of us who registered with “Motorfest” are now waiting to hear from them to learn how many have been accepted, and all the other details they send at that time.
If you are interested in being part of the show stay tuned to this thread because sometimes somebody who has been accepted may not be able to attend, for whatever reason, and it would be nice if we were able to fill that spot.
Cobber.

Yesterday I received my package from the NRMA regarding "Motorfest" 2009. I believe there are 9 vintage caravans registered to attend, that means there will be 8 in Macquarie St. representing vintagecaravans.com because...... I have been approached, and have agreed, to display "Driftwood" and the FJ in a separate show in Hyde Park on the day, I didn't agree to do this until I knew there would be a decent turn up to represent VC.COM. So looks like I will be a lonely little onion in a petunia patch... but VC.COM will be represented at both ends of the "Motorfest" event . Cobber.

;D ;D ;D Onya Cobber 9 isnt a bad roll up . I was sort of wandering why they where building that pedestal in Hyde park last year.... So.... i suppose you expect a courier to deliver yours and Yvonnes jam and scones from the Geoff and Jude "Ritz Cafe" mid morning. Oh .. and you will probably miss out on all the leads to those unclaimed , unrescued vintage vans out there too... what a darn pity 'Arold

Don't rub it in 'arold..... I'm expecting a phone call to let me know when the "Ritz cafe" is about to dispense the goodies, I'm still one of the mob you know. And who are the rest of the mob.... on this thread we only counted five... you, me, Tickos, Geoff & Jude, Maurie,... Albert.
