Keep coming across this name 'Keith Winser' , sound slike the god of vintage vans! I hear that he published plans to build your own caravan, does anyone have any that I could get a copy of. This would be great as I wish to build a van from scratch. Andy (in Blightly) ;D

Can be found on Evilbay at times or sometimes in 2nd hand bookshops, opportunity/charity shops etc.
I've got one of his books, 1962 edition, lots of good period info in them.
Terry.

G'day Andy, Keith Winser was the editor of a monthly car magazine in Australia in the 1950s. He also wrote a number of annual books on fishing, caravanning, cars, gardening, travelling. The bloke had his finger in more pies than the baker in a pie shop! But he wasn't the only Aussie that put his name to a book about building caravans. Here is a photo of the books I have, (which are only a few of the many available)... You can still get a copy of Keith's "On the Trail" and John D Porter's "How to build Caravans" via the web, such as on this site: www.booksandcollectibles.com.au/ [enter author's full name in search field to get full list of books available from that author]. Another book you might find on your side of the globe is this one published in London... I haven't scanned the contents of these books into my computer, so I can't provide you with any inside information. If you have a high-speed internet connection, I can send you some other information about building a caravan that you may find useful (but note it will be a large file size). Send me a personal message with your e-mail address and I'll see what I can do for you. cheers, Al.

Andy, Someone on USA-ebay copies the John D Porter book onto a CD-Rom and sells the CD for a Buy-it-now price of $US14.99 (Now why didn't I think of that!)
See item number 130142925359. This item finishes in a couple of days, but no doubt you could contact them for another copy at any time, I should think.
Cheers, Al.
