J Anderson of 1 Pleasant Street, Pascoe Vale, Victoria - the manufacturer of Superlite caravans - was listed as the manufacturer of Aerolite caravans in the 1956 edition of Winser's Australian Caravan & Touring Manual: click here
By comparing the photographs of the two, it is possible to see how the design of the Superlite may have evolved into the Aerolite.
This advertisement may indicate EITHER that Jack Anderson had begun producing his Superlite caravans by 1947, and had an agent for them in Launceston, Tasmania, OR that somebody quite independently in Launceston was producing caravans sold under the Superlite name in the late 40's. We have no evidence of Jack Anderson's Superlite caravans being produced earlier than 1954. In addition we have plenty of examples from that era of different manufacturers in different states selling caravans using the same brandnames. However, until we can find further information, both of the above alternatives seem possible.
