Hi all,
yes, its nearly time for the Teardrop Tourists (alias Leigh & Karon, along with Joe the Vagabond & Myrtle the Minibago) to leave on the long, long drive from Melbourne to Darwin and return.
For those who are interested (I assume there might be 1 or 2?) here is our proposed itinery on the way up;
Friday 6th July Melbourne to Keith
Sat 7th Keith to Adelaide
Sun 8th Adelaide to Port Augusta
Mon 9th Port Augusta to Lyndhurst
Tues 10th Lyndhurst to Coward Springs
Wed 11th Coward Springs to Oodnadatta
Thurs 12th Oodnadatta to Coober Pedy
Frid 13th Coober Pedy to Marla
Sat 14th Marla to Erldunda
Sun 15th Erldunda to Ayers Rock
Mon 16th Ayers Rock
Tues 17th " "
Wed 18th Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon
Thurs 19th Kings Canyon to Alice Springs
Frid 20- Mon 23rd Alice Springs
Tues 24th Alice Springs to Devils Marbles
Wed 25th Devils Marbles to Tennant Creek
Thurs 26th Tennant Creek to Mataranka
Frid 27th Mataranka
Sat 28th Mataranka to Katherine
Sun 29th Katherine to Jabaru
Mon 30th Jabaru
Tues 31st Jabaru to Darwin
Wed 1st August to Mon 6th Darwin
PHEW! Providing all goes well that is how it should work but it is fairly flexible to allow for breakdowns (car, caravan or driver).
The return trip is not yet decided but will most likely be back to Three Ways, across to Mount Isa and on to Rockhampton, down the coast through Brissie and cut back into NSW above Sydney (Newcastle?) and on down to Melbourne. We will post the details when we know, probably the night before we leave Darwin.
Two reasons for boring you all silly with our plans, if we are coming to a park near you and you would like to catch up we would love to see you. Dont care what you own! On the other side of the coin we may need to contact you if/when the plans turn to S#*t after the above mentioned breakdowns .
We are probably best contacted in the major towns on our mobile phone (0438 272 060) or perhaps if you want to leave your details here or PM us we will put together a travelling diary so we will know who the next victim is likely to be ;D
We hope to have some occasional access to the 'putor and will keep you informed of our progress or lack thereof!
Heres hoping to spread the word of Vintagecaravans.com across the wide brown land.
Cheers to all, the Teardrop Tourists,
Leigh & Karon.
