hi yall
as promised here are some pics of the recent reno of the lovshack mk2
this is how we picked her up , all aluminium was painted hamertone blue and had to be stipped to show the gleaming chrome colour underneath, but the body was as straight as{ glass is class when it comes down to it }
the interior wasn't quite what we had in mind so the curtains were the first things in the bin
the interior was a hotchpotch of different woods, handles and colours so that had to go as well
i had previously started to rebuild a toyota 60 series to pull the van around oz and and when that was finished started on the lovshack with the idea to match them as a complete rig for the big trip
the toy was a wreck to start with and two years later it was on the road again straighter than before
with that looking the part ,i just had to do the van to match so it came off the raod in nov and was finished 9 weeks later
the inside was stripped with much effort. i think the previous rebuilder in 1994 had shares in the liquid nails company cause every 2'' was glued then nailed then fibre glassed over.
man was it bloody hard yakka getting the wall panelling off, took about a week with the angle grinder going into overdrive [ not a pretty site on wood ] but it got the s"^t off
then the master craftsman, pottsy, aka lillypad got into the act and we built all new cupboards and drawers ,
relocated the fridge to the other side , axed the single beds and made a lift up double across the rear,
new table and seats up front and lengthened the kitchen area
the outside was in realy good nick, but it didn't look right behind the NEW tojo so the body was given the once over, all old holes glassed up and a two tone paint job to finish it off
a new longer drawer bar was added for better towing and this helped with the rearranging new twin gas bottles, braking system and pole carrier
in the mean time pat, had made new cushions for the seats and covered some pelmets i had made for the windows
with new benchtops,
cupboards,
handles,floor covering,
curtains,12 volt system etc
the lovshack was back on the road
it just needed something else tho.
new lights...so into the kitchen with some heart cake tins, fluro defuser and 6 minutes {at 160 degrees} later,.........................
da da..new tail, indicator and clearence lights all round
the lovshack was mobile behind kruznoz
a shakedown trip last week found a clitch with the 12v electrics and a few other bits and pieces, but all is well now and we should be off on the big drive next week
hope to see as many v vanners as poss and take in a few runs and events along the way
see ya out there
