Hi Will, thanks for resurrecting this thread.
I deleted it last Thursday morning after it no longer made sense anymore with some deleted posts. I didn't have time to fix it, as I was about to catch a plane to Adelaide to pick up "Harri" the Harris Van.
No disrespect to the purpose of this run was intended.
Anyway, a couple of members still wish to go to Bunbury for various reasons, one being the shorter distance in Surferboys case.
So, a 'revised' Bunbury run is planned on May 23, 24 & 25.
At this stage we have about a half dozen starters. and it'll be at the same place, the Koombanna Bay Holiday Resort.
cheers
Mark alias The Goose ;D ;D

Hi Mark, Please count my wife and I in on this event but we can only stay saturday night as we are preparing for the Albany Classic Round the Houses the following weekend and will need the time to prepare the cars. Could you please advise if there will be sites booked or we make our own bookings. regards HKnut

Well it is about time commonsense came into play the only reason there was ever another plan mooted was simply the run was clearly cancelled on the 20th of april I revived it on the 22nd there was never an alternative run put up against bunbury apart from the fact most people I spoke to wanted a smaller town unfortunately lyn and I cant be there on that weekend It is my mothers Birthday and she has just been widowed recently and we have arranged to take her to Cocos in south Perth however Lyn and I are delighted to see the run in memory of a truly great bloke has been ressurected regardless of where it is being held we would also emplore everyone that attended the run last year of which there was around twenty vans to make this a success full run to keep Trevor Roberts memorial run as WAs premier annual run Lyn and I are extremely happy with the outcome for all concerned Good post goose ;D Will Alias Dirty Dog

We can't make it on the 24/5 of May but will be going to Lake Yearlering on the long weekend which is the weekend after 31 May>2 June Would like to see a few fellow Vintage Vanners along "I am told it is a great spot ",and not too far from Perth or those living in the South If nothing is set in concrete for the 24/25 perhaps we could all go to Lake Yearlering for the long weekend instead and raise a glass in memory of Trevor will were there

Hi Mark, Thanks for making the booking for the site for saturday. We have stayed there before and it is a great spot, just a 20 minute walk into town to either the Rose and Crown or other great eating ( drinking ) spots along spencer street. We should hopefully arrive mid afternoon and look forward to catching with you all. Regards Bruce. ( HKnut )

Hi West coasters I thought it Might be worth mentioning here that last saturday night at the Munmorah Vint van getogether here on the east coast , we paused in the middle of a drinking session around the campfire and listened to Daggsey make a brief speech about the importance of the Trev Roberts memorial run and how much carrots and himself appreciate the annual event being held in Trevs memory. Daggsey proposed a toast and around 40 glasses, stubbys, long necks, wine flutes, and casks where raised at the same time and clinked in a toast to Trev. None of us had met the man .. just the power of the internet bringing us all together and acknowledging Carrots loss and the vint van movements loss. .. We of the east coast cant be there for the Bunbury run but we certainly acknowledge that Trev and carrots where there at the start of this great love affair with vintage caravans around Australia.. Pleased to see that you lot have sorted things out and realised that this run is not about the destination. Enjoy the getogether and do as we of the east coast did. Have a drink for Trev. Reddo

well .......... the Trevor Roberts Memorial Run has been run for 2008 ..... A small but "happy " group of vintage vanners attended the event at the beautiful Koombana Bay caravan park in Bunbury. Lots of fun and frovality was had by all, despite lousy weather on Saturday .......... Brad & Gemma from Bridgetown, Ron & Elaine and their 3 children, Bruce & Robyn (hknut), Jo & Raina, Jenni, Cassie & her boyfriend Cameron attended the event, and all had a great time ......in fact we had such a good time, there's talk of another weekend vinvan run later in the year .......Jo has some plans on the drawing board already Some new cars/caravans/teardrops made their inaugral vinvan run for this event, including the magnificently restored 1948 "Sportsman" teardrop camper, towed by "hknut's" beautifully prepared HK, ............Elaine has traded her early 90's plastic Fairlane for a very tidy 1971 ZD Fairlane, ..........and the "Harrisvan" from Coffin Bay SA made its debut vinvan run ....... Brad & Gem's neat Kennedy caravan named "Frankie" hknut's HK Holden towing the 48 "Sportsman" the sweeeet lil "Sportsman" teardrop camper (wouldn't I luv to have THAT in the Beverley shed) ;D ;D ;D Robyn has been busy on Ebay ;D ......looks great the signiron clad 1965 Rowvan and the 1958 Quest caravan (luv the rear profile on the Quest) Jo & Raina, who "had a ball" on last years run, returned again this year in the Harrisvan .......these two are gaining quite a reputation as the "party pair" ;D ;D ;D did Jo & Raina really drink that much on their arrival on Friday night, or did they have some help from friends Elaine's new ;D Fairlane tows their really neat Quest caravan .....the Fairlane is Elaine and the kids new daily driver .......rumour has it though that they also own a 67 Toyota Corona for the shorter journeys ...... oh What a Feeling Serious discussions re the FC's donk ........... Saturday night's dinner was at the "Parade" hotel in Bunbury, a top spot right on the bay ....... Jenni made a lovely speech re our dear departed friend Trev, followed by a toast to the still much missed vin vanner & late great mate .......... After Sat night's dinner, Ditzy's daughter Cassie & boyfriend Cam invited everyone to their cabin for after dinner drinks ......they didn't expect their guests to party until 4am though ......and were glad to see them out the door ......I think the party pair from the Harrisvan had something, if not ALOT to do with it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Mark

Another great weekend away with a great bunch of people. Many thanks to Mark and Jenny for allowing us to borrow their latest purchase "Harry" truly a gorgeous van. Bunbury was a great spot, bit of shopping, quiet drink at the local pub, wander up and down the main street. Perfect way to spend a relaxing weekend.
Once I figure out how to upload photo's I will share a picture of a very hung over fellow partier, who well and truly drank his share of the bottles left outside our caravan! Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to the next run, been some talk of later in the year at Moore River.

You and Pat were missed on the Memorial run, in fact I do believe its the first memorial run you have missed ...........but then you did have a good reason not to be there Hope your journey continues trouble free after this set back ..... Hi Guys Sounds like a good time was had by all. Shame about the weather putting a bit of a dampener on saturdays activities. Love the little Td ..... and even though i am a Holden man i would have a 71 fairlane or fairmont in the shed if i could find one as nice as that. I had a XY 302 4 speed ute back in the late seventys. Dave .. sorry to hear about the dramas with lovshacks car. What a drama Cheers guys Reddo.... from the far side

It sounds as though the Trevor Roberts memorial run was carried out in grand style, a nice display of cars and 'vans. The “Sportsman” certainly looks better than the one in Keven Wildes museum.... somebody should steal that one from him . Dave, Bad luck mate...I spent a day in Karratha a few years back..... that was enough, but it's just a short drive to Tom Price ... Dales Gorge and all those great places in the Hamersley Range National Park, is that the direction you're heading when you get going again ?. Cobber.

hi y'all,
well what can i say about karatha???
the capital of all things related to BULK money
this place is insane
a single room is $450 per week
a house is $2k p/wk
caravan park $500 p/wk using your own van
hourly rate for work is $165 p/hr
2nd year apprentice at the workshop i'm using is 22 years old and on $98k p/year
average salary is $160k p/year
diesel fuel is 188.9 p/ltr
and it goes on and on
people fly in from mexico, brissy etc daily
there is even a direct flight by quantas to brissy every day, flying miners in and out
one flight picks up DAY workers from port hedland [250 kms away] in the morning and drops them back that arvo
it is insane to the max
lucky we are staying with friends or we would be up that well know creek without any paddles and wouldn't even be able to afford to buy some
never mind..all part of lifes little journey i quess
if it was meant to be, i'd love to meet the bloke that organised it and i'd sort him right out
see ya

Hi all, We would just like to say a big thankyou for a wonderful day and evening in Bunbury for the Trevor Roberts run. This is the second one that my wife and I have attended ( first being Nannup with kids and dog ) and we again enjoyed ourselves. It was great meeting up and rekindling friendships with those that we met last year and it only re-inforces my belief that those in Vinvanning are a special bunch of people.
Thank you Mark and Ditzy for organising the weekend and allowing us to paricipate and celebrate this annual event. I sincerely hope that the next gathering wont be too far away.
cheers Hknut
