Couldn't find the thread since it had its external re-paint, but wanted to show you the results of finally finishing the interior. Unfortunately the colours really don't come out in the picsas well as they do in real life. Have rewired the van with safety switch and battery, so that electrically it is self-sufficient for camping. As a reminder, here is the exterior of Rubik's Kube Here is the interior as you look through the door A closer look of interior on LH side. Note that the backrest has a 55 litre water tank built in - see the filler cap at the back. Footpump in floor to bring water to the sink. A closer look at RH side Ray

That's a very nice thing for you to say Geoff ;D The Rubik's Kube looks very inspirational Ray....I will show these photos to my young Son-in-law and daughter to inspire them to start work on “Cobber's Propert”, if that doesn't get 'em going nothing will........ might have to start on it myself . What is that round knob for in the last photo---- bottom centre of the picture ? I like the colours you have used......... all of them Cobber.

Fantastic Ray,
Love the paint work and combination of colours. I think what you've done really suits the design of the Propert. The licorice allsorts approach just seems to be a natural fit with the panel work of the van. And you've obviously achieved a really good quality finish. Congratulations on achieving something really individual!
If Cobber is willing to give you a pat on the back for a 'non-original' result then you know there is no better reward! ;D ;D ;D
Admiringly,
Don Ricardo

Hey Cobber Trust you to find that knob Actually, the table top is stored there when travelling and held in place by the knob. It is set off the wall slightly to allow the sliding doors to still operate. The leg of the table is stored below the broom on a couple of clips. And before you ask about that VERY thin drawer Cobber, it is actually a slide-out benchtop for coffee preparation and doubles nicely as a bedside table for the scotch glass for when I read with the bedside cabin light (look familiar Reddo?) ;D ;D Ray

Well folks, another first for vintage caravans - Rubik's Kube has made her stage debut at the Caloundra Cultural Centre the last two nights. She tells me she is currently negotiating with Harrison Ford for the next Indianna Jones blockbuster! ;D ;D ;D Ray

Ray, Looks like she stole the show, stands out like a country............ Propert . Did they pay you, if they didn't you should have got “star billing” at least . You know this will lead to bigger things.. you are now on a slipper slide to fame and fortune.. but I would steer clear of that “BLOCK BUSTER” sort of language. Definitely the most colorful stage performance by a vintage caravan ;D ;D. Cobber.

Hi Ray
Good to see ya still out and roaming about after Munmorah I reckon your propert looks cool mate... dare to be different .. and... be noticed. We live in our plain jane houses with our plain jane run of the mill colours schemes throughout.... (well i do anyway) We see our vans as an escape from the mundane.... sorta like escaping from the four grey walls of a prison cell. So why not brighten up your van and enjoy it while away from the ho-hum of home.
I reckon one Jack Bartholemue Russel could do with a colour coordinated sports coat ( technicolour dream coat) . He could make a cameo appearance on stage at the Canetoad Cultural centre. Pink top hat and lime green jack-russel-ket... do a bit of the old Fred Astair soft shoe shuffle across the stage and curl up in the propert... I reckon he'd bring the house down ;D ;D ;D

G'day Ray,
The Propert looks like it was made to go on the stage. Nice effort and a nice bit of promotion for the V V scene. I trust that there was a suitable acknowledgment in the program?
But I thought I better let you know that I heard a rumour that Actors' Equity is on the hunt for some new actress called Ms Ruby Cube who was contracted for a theatre production without a union ticket. Better keep low for a few days...

Finally got some pics of Rubik's Kube's last foray into publicity seeking. This was taken at the Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show in June this year, extolling the virtues of insuring with MHIA, who just LOVE insuring vintage caravans, cos their owners are such nice people!!! Watch this space next year, when the old girl will make appearances at the Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and again the Brisbane Caravan and Camping Shows, starting in February 2010!!!! ;D ;D

YOU ARE DISGUSTING RAY !!!! Selling your soul to an insurance company because they'll give you an all expenses payed tour around Australia...... I reckon two old caravans on display would promote their cause twice as well.... I'm available Is what you say a fact...... MHIA love insuring vintage caravans ? That should solve a few problems for a few people Cobber.

Good on you Ray.
I've got Lucille insured with them, & about to put my Sunliner there too.
None of the crap Shannons go on with about whether its insured or not, & type of useage.
They are cheaper than AAMI who I had my Sunliner with.
I believe cheaper than Shannons, but by the time I insured Lucille I was fed up with their inconsistincies so I just went with these guys. As you say they are easy to deal with.
Hopefully nothing will happen to test their ability & willingness to handle a major claim to our satisfaction.
Thanks for your referral to them.
Just thinking, when you are talking to them next, ask if they can supply to policy holders a reasonable sized "insured with MHIA" sticker to put on our vans if we want to.
My memory of old vans had stickers & felt pennants on them, so I have a few on my vans.

Good onya Ray Good to see one of the long term "Stayers" on this forum getting a bit of recognition and time "In the limelight". You ( and Jack) would have to fall into the"high milers" category when it comes to attending Vintage caravan runs and events up and down the east coast of OZ since 2005. I say " soak it up and take whatever they are offering old mate... Would be nice ta think the owner could get to travel with the Propert on the Australia wide exhibition... sorta like a travelling salesman for the insurance Co.".. You have earnt it. Kind Regards Reddo

JBJ - I will mention the sticker idea to Phil whe I next speak to him. I'm sure you won't have any problems in the event of a claim, Phil and I go back almost 40 years and I can vouch for him. Make sure you add the Sunliner to the policy you have on Lucille and make it a fleet policy, it works out better for you. This goes to all van owners who have more than one van. Cobber - sorry old mate, only young members can come on this jaunt, you wouldn't be able to keep up!! ;D ;D ;D Reddo - where Rubik's Kube goes, I go!!! Quite looking forward to the trip, it should be a lot of fun and hopefully allow me to catch up with some fellow v/vanners on the way! Ray

Hi Ray,
I remember you telling me at Canton Beach that you would be doing the exhibition at Brisbane. It's nice to see a photo, the Rubik's Cube looks great.
Good luck with the tour next year, i'm sure you will have a blast.
