The colour I painted it on the exterior looks bad but I didn't have much choice. I will repaint the bottom pattern in a different blue to match an original pattern on an advert pic Don kindly sent me. The pole at the rear of the van was for solar panels and the holes inside on the green wall had some modern speakers which I removed and will patch up the remaining spaces. If anyone has any of the parts I mentioned above or any advice of how not to make it look so gaudy please let me know. I think the front windows may have been altered when it was reclad but I'm unsure. The tow coupling the way I have placed it on top of the caravan bar hole is deceiving as the top rusty pole part actually goes in the caravan tow hole and the threaded greasy part is what goes into the car tow bar below the caravan bar. The caravan has water tanks and an old screw on water funnel. There seems to be an optional two coupling for another type of tow bar from older vehicles I will take a pic of that shortly - am unsure if it really is another two bar implement. The original hub caps are cool, however, need rechroming. The dutch door has original lock & key. Thanks and happy hunting! I will post on the board any local caravans I see that are bondwood etc and in yards/paddocks for you guys to buy/trace as I am a one caravan guy only! I found this one hidden under a gum tree maintained by an elderly gentleman and his wife to fill in time with their other old vehicles and items in a back yard while I was working.

Wow, very very interesting van you have there malabuh! Better watch out for another forum member earlee, because in another recent thread he said he "liked blue", and there aren't many things around that are bluer than your van ;D ;D It's interesting to see the double window at the rear on both sides. I say 'interesting', because I have some photos of other vans with that same window arrangement, and I'm pretty sure we've never been able to determine what brand they were. (By coincidence, earlee owns one of these, which might make him more interested in your blue van ) So now I'm wondering if they are all from the Litecraft family...? -------------------------------------------------- The chrome and glass light fittings are still available on ebay in the UK. They are listed as coach lamps. Click on this link... cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Bus-Coach-Interior-lamp-NEW-Bedford_W0QQitemZ270155440740QQihZ017QQcategoryZ122197QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemYou'll need deep pockets to buy them (postage is a killer), but as a last resort they're available. Don't see them around locally, but other members may have a spare. Good luck with the van, and yes make sure you grab a copy of the paperwork to add to all your hard work cheers, Al.

Hi Marcus, I hadn't seen these pics when i emailed you yesterday. My opinion on colour is, that if these are the original colours, then it may be best for originality (if you care) to keep them, HOWEVER, as they are a little on the side (gawdy i think you said), an easy option, is to get the colours colour matched at you local friendly big green shed and then get them to mix up quarter strength first, then half strength if thats no good. You still get the colour scheme, just not the burnt retinas... ;D Cheers Chris

Malabuh The hubcaps look like Ford Zephyr to me, you may be able to pick up a couple in good nick.
Franklin Unless I'm mistaken the windows in your pics are simply twin pane single windows, which were quite common, whereas the van in this thread has seperate opening windows.

Thanks for the replies and pics and comments re double windows and the ebay posting for the lights. The previous owner said that the two lights that were removed were long and she couldn't get the globes for them anymore similar to neon lights apparently. - I am posting new pics today - I spent hours on the van over the long weekend and have improved the look. Haven't got anyone else to show so you guys are the only voyeurs. I have some tow coupling pics for earlee. I love earlee's 31 van!

Hi Malabuh Can you post a picture of the lights you are chasing. I have a few different styles that i have salvaged from old rotted/beyond repair vans.
I see a round light in the 9th pix you posted the other day ( the photo is a "sideways shot" of the interior and i can just see a round light on the left of the picture). I think i still have 4 of those. I also have 2 X 12volt "Long" fittings about 150mm long with white frosted glass and tombestone cast alloy ends. These where used on the old Don caravans .
Regards Reddo

Hi Reddo from what the previous owners told me I believe the long lights with the tombstone ends would be the two that I am seeking. I unfortunately don't have a pic of what I am after just a description - they are long with chrome and glass - they sound exactly like the two long lights that you have. Let me know what what we can do regarding sale of those lights - have u got a pic?
