I had been wondering about the age of my caravan and so had many members of this illustrious website and I have delved through all the information I could find re Caravan Park Ltd. The general opinion seemed to be between 1947, when the company opened in Newcastle and the mid fifties when they moved to Sydney. I have had new windows made up to replace the dry rotten originals and as I fitted one this week I thought I'd take the aluminium rain gutter off from just above the window of my 'Hunter Minor' to get the paint off it so that the rain can get away. I carefully prized it off and turned it over and there, written on the back surface, in pencil!! was "W. Page & S. Ross" "28-10-50" That cheered up my day! So, I think that lays to rest the question of the longevity of my mini-Minor.

WOW, what a great keepsake!! Now there is no doubt about its age. When I get around to rebuilding my Superb windows, I will try to be very careful, just in case I can find such a treasure.
Seems like people in those days had a much greater sense of history than we do today. Some years ago I was given a dresser, which a mate of mine didn't want any more. When sanding it back, I too discovered a little label with a date (1932, without looking at it again, the joiner's name and who it was built for (FW Tritton for those from Bris). My mate wanted the dresser back, but I still have it today and it has pride of place in my bedroom.
Good one
Ray

Thanks Ray for comments, I think its a treasure too. I can just imagine the two of them (maybe builder and apprentice) leaving there signature on all the vans that they built and without the boss`s permission. Then having a little chuckle to themselves at the pub after work. They must have considered it as a work of art and signed there names as any artist would on his creation. Thanks for all the assistance you gave me when I first contacted the Vin Van website, much appreciated. I`ll let you know if I find anything under the other window gutter. All the best, phargan
