I know how everyone likes a to perv on van pics, so here's a few of a 1950 Bondwood in original condition. I saw this last year at the RACV Great Australian rally that tours here in Vic from the city to near me in Mornington. The owner bought from the original lady owner to tag along behind his Morris Commercial, but found everyone wanted to look at the van instead (me included and this was before i discovered VV's!) He returned this year, so I immediately thought of everyone here, so feast your eyes...

Hi Minicamper,
Thanks for the photos - what a beauty! Very nice condition too.
And again the statement that there's nothing new under the sun is demonstrated! Although this van has a hinged roof rather than a full pop-top, claims that the pop-top caravan - ie a van with a lift up roof and vinyl expansion walls - was not invented until the late 60's seem a bit off the mark.
Neat little chimney for the flu as well.

I recently picked up one of those Shields Jetflame gas stoves shown in the photo above. Does anyone know an approximate year for this brand/model of stoves? (ie. are they pre-1960 and ok for my vans).
Cost me 10 bucks which I thought was good value...it's in pretty good nick.
thanks, Al.

Al,
Use it, only the purists would argue..
I have a Shields Jetflame (polished stainless steel) in my CRB van and I'm pretty sure its from the 50's, still it could have been retro fitted..
Having said that, i also have a spare Aladdin kero pressure stove or you could even go for a metho..
Unless someone in here could say for sure, I'd use it. If your van is a homemade then it really doesn't matter unless it bothers you..

Hi Al I have had my very astute legal team that i use for fending off legal claims against Reddotel ( 144 claims just last week) looking at your concerns and comments made by one Mr Kaybee of no fixed abode .. Mexico. Reddo,Reddo & Reddo solicitors ats law inform me that this site is for vans pre 1/1/1970. Henceforth the use of your shield flame thrower in your pre 1970 vans would be deemed appropriate. Would you like my solicitors to take action against this blaggard for false claims .... might be a few bucks in it for you , me and .. The legal buzzards. The ever helpfull Reddo ;D

kaybee, no harm done here...all in jest...taken as intended ;D ;D After lengthy discussions with reddo's legal team, I've got to have some signs made up to display outside/inside my vans... ...seems like I'll end up with quite a few different signs around the vans...maybe even a cyclone mesh fence... ;D ;D ;D minicamper, apologies for highjacking and contaminating your thread. The van you posted above is an absolute beauty. Sort of like half-a-pop-top van. cheers, Al.

What a brilliant little van - LUV IT ;D ;D ;D Reminds me of the poptop roof in the Propert on display in Watson Caravans, Coff's Harbour. He claims it's original too!! Hey MC, you leave yourself wide open to be sued with those signs. Signs should NEVER make a statement, Reddo, the (il)legal paralegal should have advised you about that. You should never have a sign that says "Beware of Dog", just "Dog on Premises", cos otherwise the inference is that you know you have a dangerous dog. Your signs should read "Stove may not be original" and "Caravan may not be original", just it case they are original!! Ray

Ray, the statements on the front of the signs are subject to the terms and conditions written on the back of the signs. I couldn't show the back because the writing was too small. Rest assured reddo's legal team were very thorough in resolving this issue, and spent a lot of time nit-picking (or was that picking nits??) to make sure the wording satisfied all legal requirements. His legal team are not called "Balls-up, Stuff-up, and Partners" for nothing! I feel very happy with the advice I received for the 68 cents fee I paid... cheers, Al. Oops...did I just add to the contamination?? D'oh!!

Good evening Mr Franklin1 Al sir I will have you know I done my time as an apprentice lowlif..... ooops.... solicitor with Martin, Bartin and Far ...... go. Lucky those signs have rounded edges on 'em. I could see one of my clients near bleeding to death after slashing himself on them. Also like to mention that you will be recieving a fine for not displaying the correct colours on your "Not Original"warning signs Australian standards for signs state that all "Warning and advisory signs" should be black letters on a yellow background. If they are to be read at speed then you will be recieving another fine for not displaying signs with letters at least 150mm in Hieght. Ahem.... Miss Moneypenny. You can order that weekend for 2 in the Bahamas. We are taking this poor sod to the cleaners in court. should be able to milk him of at least $200,000 I reckon he should have just stuck his shields jetflame cooker in his van and said nothing. Gunna be hard to use the bloody thing when he is locked up for the crimes listed above Reddonteverpleadguilty
