G'day Roberth,
Welcome to the forum. I notice that no-one has replied to your post. Apologies for that, but it may just be that no-one has what you are looking for.
I've been trying to work out why there would be both a Franklin sticker and a Phoenix sticker on your van, if it is a Franklin. Do you you know why that is? Was Phoenix acting as an agent Franklin in the late 1960's, or was your Franklin sold second hand by Phoenix at some stage? Does the Phoenix sticker give any indication?
If you'd like to post some photos of your van I'm sure people would be interested to see it. There are instructions on how to post photos in the 'Forum Guidelines & Helpful Hints' section of the forum. The best way to do it is via Photobucket which is an online photo storage website.
I will be really interested to hear what you can tell us about the Phoenix/Franklin connection.

Upcoming 'Time To Roam' magazine will feature a story on Phoenix caravans & I presume an interview with Jeff Chrisfield (pictured below) founder of Phoenix Caravans

Lucky Girl!! Would have thought you'd get all dressed up in your uniform in case he needed first aid!!!! So which was the first address, Nunawading or Fairfield? To think I once lived just a klm or two up the road from the Nunawading address, in Mitcham!!! But then I have lived in 5 states!! DonRicardo, perhaps the answer to your question lies in the stickers SGTL was given - Note The Phoenix Caravan Enterprises Pty Ltd? Didn't Doug Thorley up the road in Croydon do something similar, placing his stickers beside or under the manufacturer's name??

Hi Roehm,
Phoenix was located at Fairfield first, then moved to (or added) Nunwading. According to the most recent issue of Time to Roam, which contains an interesting article on Phoenix, Phoenix was located at Nunawading by 1967, and I guess may have moved there a little prior to that. By that stage Phoenix had stopped making their own vans and were selling Franklins with a few Phoenix modifications, plus - judging by the photos in Time to Roam - quite a few second hand vans of a wide variety of makes.
I am thinking that that's where the stickers SGTL has shown us came from. The may have been applied to the Phoenix modified Franklins, and to the second hand vans - a bit like Doug Thorley who you referred to.

Hi Jeff and SGTL,
What a great bunch of photos. Thanks for sharing them. Just fabulous!
Interesting to see that Phoenix appears to have sold Roadmasters at one point?

Wonderful to see these images again of vans in their new condition. Business was normal, the butcher, the baker & the caravan maker.

Hi all, I picked this photo up from Facebook somewhere. When I find the source, I will add it in. The photo shows a line up of caravans in the front yard of a house, all with the same livery, and all marked "Hutchinson's Mildura": My guess is that these vans belonged to a caravan hire company called Hutchinson based in Mildura. I haven't been able to find anything to substantiate that, though. The feature that caught my eye is that each van has a little silver plate on the front just below the window which appears to be similar to the serial number plates placed on Phoenix caravans. SGTL, as the person with the most Phoenix knowledge on the forum, what do you think? Do you reckon they look like Phoenix caravans? Don Ricardo

Hi Don, I lived in Mildura for a while in the 80s and I think Hutchinsons was a car dealer, and the current Halls Jayco sold used vans from his front yard like in the picture. Cheers hughdeany

Hi Hughdeany,
Gee, you’ve covered a bit of ground in your young life!
Thanks for that information about Hutchinsons. I was on the right track with my guess at least. How amazing that you had the information I had been seeking but couldn’t find.
Although I’ve hand passed the ball to SGTL, do you have any thoughts on whether the vans are Phoenixes?

Hughdeany way ahead of me as usual! I have just been madly researching history pages & my next stop is 'Lost Mildura Sunraysia'. I'm not 100% convinced that these are Phoenix caravans. The 3rd one in particular has quite a different front & stone guard to anything I'm familiar with. I wonder if Jeff Chrisfield is able to help us out at all?

Hi all, Hard to tell what sort of vans they are IMO,except the tandm in the procession has the same shape but different windows! The rounded one on the end looks a bit like a Carapark, whilst the one with the two opening front windows looks like a factory built but I cant remember the name! When I mentioned Halls Jayco,I meant he sold used vans from his front yard long before Jayco came along. If it helps,he was on Deakin Avenue. Cheers hughdeany

Hi all, Following are photos of Phoenix caravans seen at the Baringhup vintage caravan weekend in February 2016 and/or Bridegewater in February 2017. We have the serial numbers for each van displayed, and this with the serial numbers recorded above may eventually assist us to be able to work out the order they were built and/or a build date. 1. Phoenix belonging to friends of the forum, Sandra and Dennis - serial number K6269This van has been dated as 1957 by Jeff Chrisfield. The van has been painted to match its tow vehicle, but the livery is not dissimilar to that seen in some of the Phoenix adverts shown higher up this thread. This van is also a bit of a film star and features on a Jenny Sanders jigsaw puzzle! 2. Phoenix belonging to Shesgotthelook - serial number E6224There are other photos of this van higher up the thread. 3. A Franklin Premier badged as a Phoenix - serial number V6540Does anybody know how to decode the Phoenix serial numbers? Does the letter of the alphabet represent a year or something else? The first two digits '62', '62' and '65' respectively for these three caravans could represent the year, except that that conflicts with Jeff Chrisfield's advice regarding Sandra and Dennis's van. But if that's not the case, why do all the numbers start with '6'? A mystery to be solved.
