I started this thread as I once was the proud owner of one of these caravans. Not a lot of history is available regarding this make except to say that i did visit there small workshop in Ballarat (this city must have been popular for caravan manufacturers) in about 1996 (not quite sure). They were not producing any caravans at that time and were mainly doing insurance work. Once they finished that they were going to close down. Our Telstar was built in 1971 so I know that they were certainly going at that time. I hope other users of this great Vintage Caravan site can perhaps shed some more light. Thanks and enjoy. Graem

Here is a picture of our little Telstar that we should have never sold. Got too enthused about being bigger (and supposedly) better caravan. This little beauty was 14'6" x 7', light and airy with wraparound windows front and rear. We bought it from a dealer in 1989 and was told that it had never been used. Yeah right - and he was!. Story goes that the gent that bought it new never used it as his wife got ill. It sat in his yard under a pepper tree and was used for storage. It had suffered a little with the elements but the inside was great. - Graem

I saw one of these for sale today. According to the rego lable it is a 1969 model. Unable to see inside as it was locked and parked on the footpath. If interested, pm me. It's located near Warragul. Didn't have time to photograph it or take details. Priced at $1600.

Telstar 13 ft caravan listed for sale on Ebay, August 2014 (but see addendum below):
The seller described this van as being built in 1961, however comparing the shape (including the front window profile), profile of the aluminium cladding, and livery to Viscount and other makes, it seems more likely that this van is from around 1964/5. (Note that this dating is a suggestion only and subject to verification.) Addendum - August 2018:
Hughdeany has recently questioned whether the caravan shown in this post is actually a Telstar, and whether Telstar were producing caravans as early as the mid-60's. There doesn't seem to be any signage on the van indicating its origins, so it's identity as a Telstar is therefore suspect at this point.
Hi in need of help, have purchased a Telstar caravan up the bush and need to get it home, but I need to know what rims I will need, the tire size is 175sr13 any help would be very appreciated thanks guys
Your rims type/make will be determined by the wheel stud pattern, most likely Holden I'd guess given the thirteen inch rim size but no guarantee there. Measure the distance between each wheelstud (centre of bolt to centre of bolt) and post that . Someone will be able to help then Regards Jenno
Thanks jennison Luckily the owner pulled the wheels off the other day and picked them up yesterday, so I'm just taking rims to get new tyres, such a great seller because when he took the second wheel off he broke all the studs and has already got new hub & studs replaced ,I pick it up next week great to know people like that are still around Cheers
