Hello Dave Regarding your Baravan chassis number 1671, some info below; Size: 13'9" Model: Safari (Special build) Layout: 2SD Date out of factory: 19th June 1969.
Regarding the aluminium sheeting. Your caravan had white aluminium sheeting which was originally supplied by a company "Alcan" who were operating on Scarborough Beach Road in Osborne Park. The aluminium was called white 'RS2' profile. Sorry not sure if it is still available as there has been some changes in supplies of late - suggest try 'Capral Aluminium'. I can't remember for sure though I think the sheets were 16' long in either 3' or 4' wide. Failing that make a phone call to Ken Peachy Caravan Repairs and ask them (business in Belmont).
Hope this helps. regards Bruce If you would like a PDF copy of the 'History of Baravan' send me a note on my email - brucebarrett@bigpond.com.

Hi All New to this forum and glad I found it. Love old Vans , Boats etc.
I have a 1975 Baravan number 2300 (WA rego), not quite vintage but looks like all the knowledge is on this forum . Its about 17 feet in the old language, pretty good for its age but has had the kitchen and bunks at one end removed, the Cafe seating and wardrobe remain and are functional.
Tows beautifully , kind of surprised there ! I am doing a bit of a resto on it but need a few items if anyone knows where there is some let me know. Need : Rear Window, the wind out part. Side door is missing the louver section and the from window guard. Any info much appreciated.
Cheers Nev

Hi all, Bruce Barrett, the son of David Barrett who founded and built Baravan caravans, has written a detailed history of the Baravan company from 1954 to 1988. Bruce has very kindly allowed us to post the history on the forum, and it can now be found at the beginning of this thread here. Thanks to Bruce for being so willing to share the history of his family’s involvement in the caravan industry. Bruce is keen to hear from anyone who has a Baravan or can provide additional information about the caravans his father built. Bruce’s email address is provided on the page above. Bruce is now in the process of constructing the ‘last Baravan’ for his own use. Details are provided at the end of the history, and he has promised to keep us updated with the project as it continues. Don Ricardo

Hi all, In addition to the history of Baravan referred to in the post immediately above and set out in the first post on this thread, Bruce Barrett has provided the following guide to the body styles used by Baravan from 1954 through to 1978. Special thanks to Bruce for providing this information for forum members. Don Ricardo
