Hi everyone, I'm looking for some guidance on how to find out more information on a caravan we have just purchased. It is a 1968 dual axle Hilandale by George and looks identical to the Explorer that was posted below. I am hoping to find out tare, GVM, etc. to help when I need to register it in Victoria as there is no compliance plate. Does anyone have any information on this or photos of originals out of interest. Regards, The Lawers

Hello & welcome. For weight you are best to take it over a weighbridge & then add approx 350kgs for GVM. Older caravans don't need a compliance plate. If there are numbers on the drawbar, ask VicRoads to run a check & you should be able to register it with those. If no numbers, VicRoads will give you a 10 digit number to stamp on the drawbar. Caravan rego in Vic is reasonably painless. You will require a receipt for proof of purchase, a weighbridge ticket, all lights including licence plate & clearance lights working, chains & that is pretty much it. www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/registration/new-registration/register-a-trailer-or-caravan
